This tablet is quite fast, easy to use due to is Android powered, to watch videos is very good, but is not full high definition (only 720p), camera should be very good but in mine looks like below 5 megapixels (appears to be about 2M) maybe because of mine is refurbished. Applications run fast, I have not used yet all of installed. I made installed an Internet and data plan with SMS/MMS that run very good and fast.
I hope this review help you to take decisions.
nice tablet ,very good touch , reasonable display, dissapoining battery.nicely desined, good operating system.many android apps for smartphones are not available in the tablet version.
I bought this for my wife, so she could enjoy playing Bejeweled even more...!
The tablet was easily rooted via Gingerbreak (z4root does not work) & now has CWM-based (custom) recovery.
Although DELL has officially released Honeycomb, after flashing it to the tablet, I found far too many apps and games are still unsupported/incompatible. In fact, I had to flash the T-Mo version of 2.2.2 in order to get all of the Gameloft games, Bejeweled, Block Breaker HD etc etc et al, to all work properly (Spiderman HD wouldn't download system files after installation).
DELL lists this device as being "16GB" -- and technically, it is; but 4+GB are reserved & allocated between the O/s and internal storage (e.g. Apps, dbdata, etc) leaving you with ~11.35GB to play around with.
Full 1080p playback is nice (and IIRC, it even plays 1080p w 5.1 audio), even though the device's resolution is only 800x600. I guess the Nvidia Tegra2 makes up for the smaller screen size (my Galaxy Tab 7" is 1024x768...and doesn't have a Tegra2).
Battery life is great, but it's what I expected, given that this is a Wi-Fi only tablet.
Overall, it's a great device for its intended purpose on my end (non-windows, non-blackberry device for my wife to play around with). However...even if you DO buy the 3G version, there's no chance in hell you'll get the phone call feature working (unlike my Galaxy Tab 7") -- at least, at the time of posting this review, the initializing/accessing the phone feature wasn't posted anywhere as being successful.
For $140, this device is the best on the market (stay away from Archos, eLocity et al).
The tablet has Android 2.2 (Froyo) OS, the Dell Streak 7 tablet PC offers users a variety of applications and software for performing various functions. Powered by the 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra T20 Dual Core processor, this Dell tablet PC performs multiple tasks with ease. Equipped with a front and a rear camera, this Dell tablet lets you execute a video chat or take a self-portrait. Surf the Internet wirelessly using the Wi-Fi connectivity of this Dell tablet PC.
This is an amazing tablet for the price I paid. I have an Ipad and several other tablets, I got this for the simple fact that it boasted so much for so small a cost, and let me tell you, it absolutely performs for the price. If you are curious about tablets, this would be an excellent starter. Easy to use, quick, and great capacity without any after market upgrades I recommend this tablet to anyone.
I consider this unit an excellent unit based on the price/capabilities relationship. I believe battery life is somehow short (over 2 hrs with constant use) but still I would reccoment it !!!
By the way, the price was very good!!!
Dual core CPU makes the device really fast, and RAM is good enough to open various applications. fast web browsing.
The bad thing is that no official ICS :(
Excellet design for a tablet, very fast, size is good, good weigh and camera. Battery life cought be better. Dysplay resolution could be a litle better.
I like many others purchased the Dell Streak 7 bundle from QVC just before Christmas. The bundle was two 30 free trial periods with T-moble, free Tech Support for Dummies. This tablet has a very sharp clear screen, user-friendly, is very lightweight and perfect to slip into your purse without any extra bulk. The biggest problem with it is sometimes it freezes up and just stopped working, the only way to fix it was to shut it off and start all over. Tech support didn't know what caused this or how to fix it, it was through tech support that I learned other people that had this problem the tablet was permanently frozen and would not reboot so it had to be returned. I was also told that all of the Streak series tablets has been discontinued and tech support, replacement parts or repairs may not be available in the near future. Once other people found this out they were sending them back to QVC, despite this I liked mine so much that I bought a leather case, a full body invisible shield and 2 (1 for my car) additional charging cable. I bought extra charging cables because a charge only last about two hours and I wanted to be able to charge it wherever I was in the house. After it froze up again "today" for the 6th or 7th time in my last attempt to keep it I called several computer repair shops here to see if it could be fixed and none of them was aware of a Dell streak tablet and every one of them recommended returning it! So sadly as much as I really really liked this tablet I reluctantly packed it up and send it back.
In short you will fall in love with this table, just be aware of what you're not getting with this tablet, support or repairs for much longer!!
Great product. Meta my need of a family tablet at home that ask members can share. Would have liked a sharper screen resolution. but great for price point.
