I recently purchased a laptop with Wi-Fi capability and wanted a router for my home network. In searching the reviews for various brands, one thing I noticed about the D-link router was its apparent ease of set-up. That was the main reason for choosing it over others. I found the directions easy to follow and it worked right away. I'm not a novice, but I'm far from being an expert, so I was very happy with this result. I have not had any problems (dropped signals, etc.)and would recommend this router to anyone who wants a good product that has clear instructions for installation and is relatively inexpensive.
Had D-Link 524 wireless router that repeatedly locked up every time there was a power surge. Tried replacing with a Cisco Router but setup of this unit was next to impossible and I returned it. Bought the DIR 615, but software would not install and gave me an error code. Downloaded the setup program from D-Links website, but it would not detect the router durring network setup. At this point I was totally disapointed with my purchase, untill I contacted D-Link customer support who made the purchase worth while, not only did they walk me through setup but also set up my security option for the wireless connection to my laptop. Two weeks latter unit has not locked up and all works well!
Great router for money I've spent:) As it is discussed on forums the probem revision is B2 and it can not be changed on dd-wrt or smth else:( My router is B2, BUT I set the latest firmware and it works FINE! Now it supports 7 devices: 2 iPhones, 2 notebooks, Wd Live, PS3 and 1 computer. It supports wifi "n" - no problem. Speed in my wireless LAN is about 1.5Mbit/s - normal for such class devices. If you are not worry about LAN speed dir-615 is good choice. The next router I buy will be Linksys 160nl. It has higher Lan speed.
tell you guys what I went thru to get this router to flash in DD-wrt.. Hmm took it apart.. had to order a 3.3Volt LVTTL cell phone USB interface to talk to the OS. Did some soldering three wires ground(blue), TX (White), RX (Green)wires to Hyperterm into. I fought this thing for a solid WEEK! waited a month for interfacing cables. The 5 volt com port cable doesn't work don't even try. Just throws junk on the screen in terminal. after getting into the os low level. and erased the Vram. than Reboot it.. it took more fighting with it and unplugging it many times. than it fixed it self magically. I got an 192.168.1.1 to come up. and I got an IP. I than finally got DD_wrt to flash.
once that is done. I haven't had an issue! I don't smoke but I needed a cig after all this unnecessary b.s. i went thru, but if you like D-Link more power to ya. I got this for the external Antennas thing it would go thru walls HA! What a Mess that was and the Limited things in the DD-WRT was Confusing. it wasn't even the same as ALL the other Linksys firmware. So I don't know what I am going to do with this unit. I went and got another Linksys WRT320 after this mess. unit is fine but I didn't want to mess with its confusing OS. MY info is LEAVE IT to Factory Default. buy some Linksys instead. Sorry D-Link lovers.
I have to say that dlink dir 615 is a great product... Very easy to setup. Performance is the best I think in this price range.... Online info is widely available if there is a problem... Dlink has plenty users. Would purchase this product again if it was stolen or broken
this item was a wonderful replacement for my old router. I have a relatively small apartment but it has tons of walls and doors that block signals. This router gives me enough of an internet to skype from my room on the opposite side of the apartment. I have had it for a few weeks with absolutely no problems. It was easy to set up and works for both 110 and 220 electricity, which is a plus for my international use.
i decided to buy this router because i have always liked d-link for easy compatibility. i have an xbox 360 and like to watch netflix in hd and i previously was running a wireless g network, but with the new N network i have no lag issues and the picture quality is better
I bought this very affordable and excellent router because I recently obtained two tablet computers that rely upon wi-fi.
The price was great and the router actually far-exceeded my initial expectations, and was simple to set-up the fire-wall/password via Windows-8 networking wizard - I actually did not need the enclosed CD - beware that this particular model does not come with Mac software on the enclosed CD.
I have no dislikes for this router whatever after two weeks in operation.
I've installed two other routers for family - a balky NetGear model, and an excellent but expensive Cisco router, and this D-link unit is marvelous - as fine as the Cisco for its capabilities. It is nice having the data monitor lights on the router's front panel. I am very happy with this eBay purchase for certain!
Great router with easy to set up, good feature and reliable.
Good range and strong signal is better than other in its class.
The price is very very good and you get good reliable router with great signal.
I purchased this D Link router because of the brand name which I have used in the past and the great price it was being offered for. So far, I have had this router for about 2 months and not once has it failed. We use approximately 5 wireless devices in the home at the same time and we never have an issue. I love that we can also connect our desk top computer to one of the 4 available ports. I have used other routers in the past that were more expensive and this does the same things the others ones do.
