I am not a photo expert but in my opinion this camera takes very good pictures. The feature I like the best is its low light quality. I am not talking dim light but when you are inside at night and don't want to use a flash because a flash is too bright. Before my no flash indoor shots would always be blurry because I couldn't hold the camera still enough during its longer exposure. This camera has constant image stabilization. During longer no flash exposures the camera will take out any shakes in your hands. The result is an in focus and clear indoor no flash shot. The HDMI port to play HD movies and show pictures on T.V. is nice as well. This is definitely a good consumer grade camera. It has a lot of gimmicky features such as fish eye, toy camera, poster, etc but it also has some useful ones such as exposure level, ISO setting, etc. It is also very fast from pressing the power button to ready to take a shot. I would say about 1 second. There is also a slider on the top that puts all settings to auto. If you are in a hurry and don't want to change your programmed settings just slide the button to "auto" and the camera will take over everything and do a fairly good job. For the current price of $100 I don't think you will be disappointed with this camera. It is very light and small. It can't compete with the huge, expensive professional cameras but it is a noticeable improvement over iPhone photos.
I my opinion its size, weight, picture quality and features make this camera a good buy.
I heard this camera is pretty nice... cool look with high definition 1080p video quality. It has lots of other features too and is available on variety of colours. If anyone is interested in buying good camera at reasonable rate then I would recommend this as the best choice. I found out in a website mentioning this camera as best among all the canon cameras available on the market in point shoot category. They had considered the reasonability of price with the features available in the camera as reference to compare canon cameras.
Solid Canon quality. I have an older Canon Digital Elph camera that I used for many years and it is still working well; however, I felt it was time to upgrade to the new camera to take advantage of all the updated capabilities. What hasn't changed is the quality craftmanship, easy and intuitive menu system, pocketability, and great picture quality. Some of the cool new features include the high speed burst mode for still pictures, the ultra slo-mo movie mode, and of course, the full 1080p HD video recording. Upgrades include the improved image chip/processor, 12 mp resolution (vs 3 mp on my old one), larger LCD. The only reason I didn't give it a "5" on features is that Canon followed all the other manufacturers and now the Digital Elph series does not include an optical viewfinder, which is nice when trying to frame a shot when bright sunlight makes it hard to see the LCD. I am told that the improved LCDs make this not necessary, so I'll wait and see.
This is the best little pocket camera I've ever owned. It uses a CMOS sensor like the more expensive cameras, so it's really quick and takes fantastic photos. This camera is user friendly and is small, but not too small, and it has a nice big 3" LCD. It has great battery life and it also has some cool effects for taking custom photos. I do have big hands and if I could change anything on the camera it would be to increase the size of the zoom control, which is sort of thin and tiny, but that's it - you can't go wrong with this camera - love it!
I was given one of these as a gift a couple of years ago and liked it so much I bought one for my daughter as a Christmas present. My son, who is a Chemical Engineer borrowed mine several times to take to job site, and that is why I purchased this one. It makes excellent quality pictures and is exceptionally easy to use. It is small and light weight, but obviously of high quality. I especially like the large 3 inch screen that is used as a view finder as well as for reviewing pictures. I have no dislikes regarding this camera. I think anyone looking for a camera of this type would be happy with the Canon ELPH 100 HS.
After researching the reviews of digital cameras in various price ranges, I chose to purchase this Canon model. It is an ideal camera that takes excellent pictures, at a reasonable price. I have a Canon digital slr so I did not want another large complex camera. This camera has all the features I need for a simple shoot that gives me the quality I want.
This is a terrific value for the price! All the features needed for the amateur impromptu photographer and more. Twilight setting makes sunsets a breeze. Tough chassis takes a beating in the bottom of your purse or in the pocket! I have been using the Elph series cameras to take photos out in the field for work for several years, and depend on the ease of use and toughness for great shots with efficiency and consistency. I can't say how many times I have dropped this camera getting out of my car or forgetting and just clunking down the bag. Program manually to improve the speed, or just let the auto do its thing for great shots.
I got this used with no accessories so it was an amazing price! My Mom had this and I was pretty happy with it, so I figured I'd rather buy a used decent camera today and another one in a year. I know I could buy a $250 camera that beats it handily, but why when I can buy a new one for $150 in a year that's better than that one and have this extra camera to boot?
I'm satisfied with my new camera. I'll not pretend to be an authority on digital cameras. However, my new Canon performs up to my expectations. It captures the product images I intend to list on ebay.
I purchased this camera for my wife as an anniversary gift. She, for whatever reason, has always had a very difficult time taking a picture with a compact camera. This camera has been the perfect choice for her. It is very easy to understand all the features and take professional quality pictures. She has been so pleased that, with the large viewer on the camera, she can center the subject of her pictures without chopping heads off, etc. The video is an additional add to making this a camera anyone would enjoy.
