I bought the iPod touch to replace an HP iPaq, that was 6 years old, worked perfectly, but was obsolete. I needed something to carry my Pharmacy program download on. It is very nice, has lot of memory, but I would not purchase one again, as it has led to about 8 hours of communication with Microsoft, Dell, and Apple, because it would not sync with my Windows outlook Calendar and Contacts. After many hours of trying, I discovered that I had to format my computer, (five month old Dell Inspiron 580)which should fix the problem...ignorance is bliss; I would have never known, had I not tried the iPod touch. I guess it was a blessing in disquise, but a very painful one, at that. I have learned to never, ever shop at Best Buy...as they would not warranty their product.
the touch doesnt have the function for playing music without leaving it on (standard ipods have wheel). if not you have to key in all the time to change songs ect. there is a shake feature but i dont know if it works in "sleep" mode. then theres the itunes issues. with the wifi on and in sleep i get about 3/4 of a day. in power down mode then back up itz ok or better, but what a pain. have a black berry 8310 and i like it more for lots of stuff. i was gonna buy a touch phone. am i ever glad i bought this first - iphone iz out. BUT - this has a better engine in it so it can do more better then the 8310 - i think there same age. screen keyboard suckz - queerie i like better. i use to have a tungston e2 -i really like that for personal stuff - but was very limited otherwise- stylus was useful. think ill try stylus with this. I cant figure why everbody jumped on this design - it really kinda sucks. for someone with not much pc skills, this probebly iz the better answer. ???
I already have an Ipod touch I bought this one for my son I like the touch screen features , and that it holds 32gb memory. It holds songs, apps, pictures, and games. I really thought that I was getting A good deal untill it arrived the seller said it had a crack on screen but it turns out that its on the inside of the crystal and its getting bigger. Will not buy used again.
The biggest item that any Touch owner needs to consider is "how will you use it" then "does your usage locations have wireless internet"? I have my own home network wireless and my work has wireless. But I've found few OPEN/FREE public locations; not Starbucks, not airports, few hotels/restaurants - they all want $$$ for month/24hr access.
Biggest MISS is >NO Camera< and NO "internal" mic = NO Skype, NO vid MSGs.
Do not need 64/32/16G memory with no NO Camera!
Low battery life (that insures I do not do MP3/MP4/AVI).
NO external QWERTY portable keyboard available, yet.
NO plug-in memory device(s) for APPs/config/data back-up.
I cannot (or haven't figured out) how to access the memory as a PC drive [like a USP stick]. I'd like to try out an eBook via PDF file, but I do not see how to copy the file to memory. The manual is of no help. I've not found an APP that gives me basic utilities for file manipulation in the 32G of memory.
The APPs you can get are numerous, often lack good descriptions but graphically look interesting, and usually co$st or are come-on a ad to bait you into buying. True, the average APPs costs are low but will add up - much like ring tones!!! iPod APPs appear to be a newly created industry with lil standardization.!@#$%^&*
The iTunes PC program is lame and gives iPOD users little control. iTunes says you can use your Touch on various PCs (work/home/NB) but does not work well at all with multiple PC's with one iPod. Does not do a solid B/U of your Touch! Cannot set Touch config via iTunes PC.
Touch QWERTY keyboard is almost impossible to use in vertical display mode, horizontal is much better but still hard. Not all APPS or even Touch installs go horizontal!!! I had to make(4" drywall screw) to eventually buy a stylus to help my fat fingers do QWERTY. Stylus tip MUST be ~0.25" diameter to work on the Touch screen.
My primary use for my Touch is to slave my MS Outlook calendar into the Touch and check my Yahoo email. In retrospect I should have saved my money and bought less memory Touch - no camera, low battery life keeps me from MP2 use.
Nice nerdy-geek tecky toy with a few useful features - not what I expected.
I bought an ipod , because I thought it would be nice to be able to load music onto so I could listin to it while I walk.did not consider that you have to buy the music from itunes or have a account to att to use the ipod touch. So if you are considering to buy one ,look into all the things you intend to use it for.And if are buying used , thats what it is going to be, it will not look like new, if it wasn't taken care of.
Well Being its an Apple Touch its a given that its awesome but unfortunately I didn't look into this as much as I should of. The 8gb 3rd generation is pretty much a 2nd generation. I misunderstood this as being a review for the whole 3rd Generation, but its not, ONLY the 8gb is pretty much a 2nd generation. the 32 and 64 Ipod touch 3rd Generation are the real deal. Better Hardware and much more up to date for the new stuff thats coming out.
The battery on the Ipod Touch I purchased goes dead after about an hour or two of playing music and the Safari browser gets "clogged" after visiting a few websites.
im hoping i bought 10 ipods at least thats what it says but the more i think about it i will get somthing else because the price was 2 good 2 be true but when i seen them i bought them for my kids 4 christmas so if i dont get them i will not be happy and i will get ahold of a lawyer.so im really hpoing its leget.it says i bought apple ipod touch 3rd generation(32gb)so i guess i will see when it comes in the mail and i hope its all good
I think on the positive side the user interface (touch control) is the best I have ever seen. On the negative side iTunes is the exact opposite of the user interface. iTunes decided to wipe all songs out of my wife's IPOD just by hitting the Sync button on her computer. A product should NEVER remove anything that you put on it unless you want it gone. I bought the IPOD for my wife as I won't be caught dead with such a hyped, trendy and overpriced product.
Yes this product is amazing! BUT keep in mind it doesnt have a 3g network, or even the capability to access the internet from the road. I bought this thinking I can use it for a GPS, as well as an ipod. Once you leave your WiFi area, good luck finding another network to connect to!
If this product had WiFi built into it, its a FIVE star product.
If your just looking for something to use for games and/or music, its great. It has speakers so you don't need headphones.
If you want to see the true power of the itouch, just buy an iphone from AT&T...same thing, except you get to access the internet and any online games from anywhere AT&T covers.
