The Ipod touch is a wonderful product, but the first generation is slower and not as functional as later generations. Its internet is OKAY at best. It is perfect for people who are using it for noting more than music and the occasional game.
I got this iPod back in 2007 new and at first it was a great iPod, but now its really outdated and just basic. It really has no good features on it and is kind of bulky compared to the new ones. However there is one nice thing I have to say was this iPod was very durable. The first week I owned it I dropped it in the snow while getting out of a car and did not realize it and I stepped on it after looking for hours I found it in the driveway laying in the snow in -10 fahrenheit and it still worked. To this day it is still working great just has a few dots on the screen that's been there ever since it got stepped on and the back plate still has the dent in it from being stepped on. I guarantee if that was a newer touch like the 3rd/4th gen the screen would be cracked and probably would not work anymore.
The iPod touch is a pretty awesome technology, but this first generation is prone to glitches like most first generation products do. I was even lucky enough to receive mine with hardware problems! No, I would not buy this product again. Furthermore, I would not advise anyone else to buy this product!
Its great for listening to music now itunes market doesnt support first gen or second if your getting this to play games its not worth it would use it to play some youtube and some music casual stuff
Keep in mind that I am writing this review in 2013, several years since this model of the iPod touch has come out. There are now newer and better versions of the itouch that one might consider investing in. If you are looking for a cheap but good device to play music, some videos or even have pictures on with occassional internet browsing then this is one answer. But as for apps this old version isn't the best choice. Apple's newest opperating systems are not compatible with this old device, meaning alot of the apps aren't either.
Bottom line is that yes this would work great for a cheap but good touch screen music player. However if it was me I would spend the extra money and buy one of the newer models, say a forth generation or up.
If you're looking for a personal use(No speakers) mp3 player with a ton of storage space and plenty of room for applications, or you just want to store your music library this Ipod touch is for you! You can adjust the brightness unlike most products I've purchased in the past to save battery life. It has a quick convenient slide to unlock feature. Over all without speakers(You can purchase external speakers for these items dirt cheap 10 -20 bucks tops depending on how high quality you're after) this item is a B+
for the ipod touch 1st generation it`s not that bad, don`t have a camera like the newer ones but it`s alot cheeper too. when buying the 4th generation it has alot nice camera but it`s alot more expensive,so i recommend getting the one you can afford because it`s better to have any one then not to have one at all..........
Item was brand new. It worked fine at first, but two days later it started shutting down. It did not pick up internet wireless signals any more. It failed. Item is vintage and software is outdated. Apple support was not able to restore device to original factory settings. There is no current software available for iPod touch first generation. Apple advised me that iPod touches usually last approximately 6 years or so. It is recommended to upgrade devices and software as well.
The 1st generation Ipod Touch can only use IOS v.3.13 which greatly limits it's capabilities, especially app compatibility, compared to all the later generation.
Sorry I don't know about battery life yet, mine needed a new battery and I just replaced it. Oh....it was a difficult install due to soldering of 3 tiny wires to the board. All other generation have a plug in connection.
Ive never had a ipod before i recently bought a lasonic i931 boombox.old School Style Radio and the Ipod fits in the radio havent tried it yet.But it seems like a resonable merchandise gonna look on youtube for some reviews and then ill give my Opinion on the Ipod 1st generation?
