first of all i shouldnt buy things when i'm drinking thought it was a NEW Ipod it wasnt second i dont like the feature of everything being associated with Apple and Itunes dont like it. the product itself is ok but i could have and should have just purchased an MP3 player because all i really want is music and most MP3 players come with FM radio feature I have a MP3 just wanted more memory should have stayed with that product
This was my first iPod, and it failed to impress. My biggest gripe was that it's not at all obvious how you shuffle WITHIN a playlist, as I don't like to listen to different types of music all together. I had to google around for a while to find an answer. It would have been much more helpful for that option to be in the "now playing" context menu than everything else in that menu.
The player feels too light and thin, as if I'm going to break it, something I never worried about with previous MP3 players - that may sound dumb, but I have to gingerly pick it up and put it down. It's hard to land on the specific item you want to click with the scrollwheel - a feature that's useful only if you have huge music libraries of the sort you only get from P2P swapping (something Apple clearly recognized from the start). And the touch controls are rather sensitive. Often I keep the Nano on hold so it doesn't accidentally skip to the next song or mess with the volume when it's in my pocket.
And as much as people love iTunes, it's just not that great to me. You can't delete songs from your iPod - you have to de-select them in iTunes, which is f'ing ridiculous. I've seen instructions for getting around this with Explorer, but Apple really shouldn't make you jump through hoops just to delete songs.
This player is useful basically for me to carry a larger library with me, and that's it. The UI is a pain and the controls aren't intuitive. My Slacker G2 player has been much more enjoyable.
I love Nanos, had a first gen for years. Love this one, but don't love the photos, videos from former owner left on. ITunes wrote my music over his, though, without problems. I don't need a camera, etc. that is standard on the new ones, just the music when I run, so used is fine and half the price. If anyone knows how to get the old videos, photos off so I can fill the space with my music, email me at email@example.com.
Nano 4th generation is still not updated item. since we have 6th generation but still need more improvement as still technology is hard as well put. it still suck. even for other apple inventions. In the future, I hope the idea man create something that everyone wants. this is a okay gadget there is nothing wrong with it. this nano is just simple. just put in sing you download from itunes and play it.
It is a very nice looking unit. Slim, aluminum, solid. Feels like quality. However it is not so easy to use for people with big hands. I find myself constantly dropping it or pressing the wrong thing. Sound quality is great, video quality is beyond expectation for a 2" screen. i HATE the shuffle feature in which you shake it and it shuffles the songs. I just drop it in my pocket on its head and off it goes. I drop it in my lap in the car and sure enough... so i find myself swearing at it alot. Putting the lock on solves alot of that problem but i wish i could just shut it off. Again, I think my frustrations are due to the fact that it is so small and slender and the click wheel seems smaller than i remember on other nanos and definately the classic. Itunes is so so as well. I expected a huge assortment of music but its typical radio fare. nothing new. So overall its okay.
i dont have a nano n cus i like the color blue n havin my first ipod nano im so exicted. n i dont like that it doesnt come with a charger n ear phones. oh well i have to buy them separalately.
good product. bought for a birthday present and the price was great. Cant afford new ones, so this iPod was perfect.
got it for the wife...she wanted a pink one...sound quality is ok...a bit strange to get used to moving fingers in circle to scroll...earphones fell apart after a few days...earpiece came out from circular holder so get some good ear phones...i prefer a creative lab mp3 player..they upload easier and are easier to use. I particularly like the zen 5 which is why I got one... I dont have 5000 songs so I dont need one with a huge space capacity.
Small enough to carry in pocket. I like the lock feature. Good apple support. Great sound.
Wow 72 page manual! hard to control Rotating wheel too touchy sometimes, other time wont move.
Too many features.. Ear buds are too large uncomfortable unless you have very large ears. First thing you have to do is buy different ear phones, not good for item that sells new for $150.00. over priced CHINESE JUNK. You would think for the price Apple could make their own pods. Another thing it needs in the box is a cover. iPod scratches too easily. Also needs a charging wall plug. Theirs another $28.00 at Whal-Mart
Overall too little for the money. ipod, case, better ear phones and wall plug you have over $210.00 invested. I guess your paying for the name, but it is still made in China . CHEAP CHINESE JUNK.
It never crashes, the sound is pretty good quality, it comes with decent games to pass the time, and plays videos fairly well.
