After purchasing my iPod Mini off eBay, I was quite shocked after tearing away the bubble wrap, to discover that the iPod Mini, was actually quite large! It is the same heigth as the second generation Nano but about twice as thick and 1.5 times wider. Although, obviously, the Mini represents some of Apple's first offerings and thus it was small at the time. However, the larger size makes it very difficult to lose. It also fits into your hand easily and provides a large clicker wheel compared to the diminuitive Nano. Since it is an older iPod, it doesn't have the ability to play video or display pictures. However, with four gigabytes, the Mini has the capacity for a thousand songs, which is enough to satisfy the needs of many. Overall, the mini represents a great iPod for those who prefer a larger size and are only concerned about playing music and without needing to store their entire library.
I have an ipod mini and I've had it since 2005. I LOVE IT!! It's my favorite ipod. I bought the 2nd one for my sister who had a 2 GB nano (1st generation). Its black and white screen is simple and leaves no room for "fancy" stuff. The album art stuff on the new ipods bugs me.. I just want to listen to the music, who cares about the strange (in most cases) album art. Its simple to plug it to your computer, or whatever computer you like (no 5 computer "limit") and its pretty darn durable. I've dropped mine numerous times (concrete.. asphault.. the works) and it still works just fine.
The only downsides to the mini is that its hard to find accessories for it sometimes. I replaced the battery myself (ebay battery purchase) and found a video online of how to replace it myself so i wouldn't have to send it in and pay apple to replace it. Its quite easy to do, so you should give it a try. I think it might be about time to replace the battery again.. but I wear it out. And batteries are pretty much under 10 bucks on ebay.. so not a big deal. :-D
My 1st generation mini finally died and I didn't want to pay the money for a new ipod so I decided to get this. I love the ipod mini 2nd generation even more than the first because of the extended battery life and the added memory. I also like the fact that it has games on it and added spaces for contacts and a calendar. WAY better than the first generation, hope it lasts as long as my first!
I recently purchased the Apple iPod Mini - 2nd Generation as a replacement to my iPod Shuffle... I found that it was easy to use... It has a good sized storage capacity (4 GB)... It is a nice compact package... and it was an overall good purchase... Go and get one today!!
Although this does not have even half of the current iPod technology, it is a good product for a basic MP3 player. Does all the basic Music and Podcast playback associated with MP3 players and has a screen display as well as the ability to build your own playlists "On the Go". It does not feature a color screen, the ability to play Music Videos, TV Shows, or Movies, or any of the Games or Apps that can be bought on the iTunes store, but it is a great iPod to start out with for a child or the average soccer mom at the gym or for going on jogs.
While I love the color and the size of the iPod mini, the battery isn't all that it's cracked up to be. I have let it die completely and recharge it and it never lasts the 18 hours as it says, not sure if it's just a defect or what.
I was lucky enough to get an iPod from freeipods.com was awesome to get it for free and be able to pick the color. I love the way I can put it in any pocket as it's nice and small and I replaced the headphones as there are iThieves in our city so I figured I may as well try to hide the fact I have one.
The software that you use, iTunes is not too bad but the updates seem to screw up my iPod and then I have to erase everything and start all over again.
Even though I have had problems with mine I would recommend this MP3 player to anyone who wants a quality player that holds loads of music.
I recently had to sell my previous mp3 player (a 30gb zune) and wanted a duruble, nice quality mp3 player for under 30.00; who would of known it was a apple product. the 4gb ipod mini is a stylish, yet durable player with a metalic casing and a well encased sceen. it takes a while to get used to the monocrome screen, but after a while it gets really easy on the eyes. Once Again(which is why i hate apple), you have to use itunes. this can be easily avoided by installing a 3rd party os on the mini, but it has questionable effects. as for the interface of the mini, i am a bit puzzled. I was kinda disappointed that it freezes occasionally, and that is is a little buggy. the sound quality is really good for a old mp3 player. overall, if you need a cheap mp3 player, get a ipod mini, if you have money to blow, get a classic zune or a creative zen.
This item has great features including a readable screen, simple menu, & lots of storage space. There are only two jacks (for headphones & USB), leaving no confusion about what their for. The size is perfect for hand-held usage & the button pad is easy to navigate. It's a wonderful item for those switching to a digital / technological lifestyle.
If you're looking for an inexpensive ipod, I'd definitely recommend the mini. While it doesn't play video or even have a color screen, it is a rock solid mp3 player with a good amount of space, a familiar feel as the rest of the ipods (before the touch, anyway) and a good value. Battery life is good. All in all, I'm very happy with this, my third Mini.
