ipods dont age gracefully. its weight shows its age above anything else. plenty of storage, but forgot its not pc compatible yet. had to get a special adapter to plug it into the usb drive as they were still running on apples firewire cables. i bought it as a present for my mother and with all the hassle wish i would of gotten a creative mp3 player.
Had hoped to get a 'Used - past generation' Ipod for under a hundred bucks.
Figured someone upgrading would be happy for the extra cash, and since I DON'T need mega GB's of space, I would be getting a unit cheaper than a new one that had half the capacity.
Well I indeed got the 10gb Ipod for a good price....looked brand new and came with a number of new accessories that probably cost what I paid fpr the Ipod.
The unit works great, tho it's 'touch' buttons are ultra sensitive and it is almost impossible to use without LOCKING it up so you don't accidentally change songs, volume, etc...not a big problem.
My only quibble- and this seems true of most USED MPG players- regardless of brand- the battery life is well below average.. somewhere between 3-4 hours.
Okay for short needs, but dissaponting for long hauls.
Bottom line....you DO get what you pay for.... I was only willing to dole out a part of what a new unit cost and I got only part of what a new unit provides..
Pay half a loaf and that is what you will get.
But given all that I think it was a good deal overall.
I know about all the iPod models and this one has all the great things about every iPod like the touchwheel design and easy menu system. This is probably one of the worst iPods, however, for a few simple reasons.
First, it's as big as the 40gb version but holds less songs. Second, the 3rd generation iPods are notorious for having bad batteries - so make sure if you're buying one that the battery has been replaced or is in good condition. This goes for all 3rd generation iPods (not just the 30). Replacing an iPod battery yourself isn't very easy to do.
I don't want to bag on this model completely, if you get a great bargain you're set. Just don't spend a ton on this 30gb version - consider the 20gb or 40gb 3rd generation or newer models instead.
I like ipod as it is a wonderful way to get rid of mp3 players, as it offers games, notes, calendar and lots of features you won't be able to get with standard mp3 players. What I dislike is the fact that battery life is short.
Well, there are good news to it, and there are bad news. More good news though! What I like about it is that it holds A LOT of songs. Not even I know that much in a lifetime. I also like the way it looks. Everything about it is very original, (well duh) It's one of the very first iPods out there. A collectors item to me. There's nothing I can really complain about. Maybe that it's big but that's not a major downfall for me. The reason why I got this iPod was to replace my iPod Nano that died on me for good. This was a major replacement...I love it. The only thing that's bad about it is, That I have a new laptop now, running Windows Vista, and somehow, the iPod third gen won't load any songs or do anything with it. I'm not too sure of what's the problem. Maybe it's because Apple hasn't upgraded the versions for older iPods to be compatible with the new Windows Vista? Not too sure... that's the only thing that is a problem for me. Other than that, I'm loving it. :)
The iPod was ok. I switched from my nano 2nd gen to the classic to hold more songs. It is way bigger and bulky compared to the nanos which took some getting used to. The buttons that are across the top of the wheel rather than built in were kind of cool. Takes some getting used to but in a good way. I did not like how the iPod did not charge threw the pc. You have to charge it with a wall charger. The iPod also froze up a lot, probably because it is an older one. The one I happened to buy was not working properly ( it wouldn’t sync with iTunes and wouldn’t hold a charge) but I don’t thing it was that type of iPod, it was maybe just the one I bought
the apple ipod is convienient and a great thing to have but i am dissatisifed with the length of battery. i would have expected the battery life to be 8hrs like the seller said it was but i feel it is less, this is extremely frustrating. even though this length of battery is unsatsifactory i still feel this may be a worth purchase because it is more convienient as oppsed to carrying around a bulky cd player.
I buy this product because of his reputation, the third generation of iPod Classic, Apple shows us with this item the importance of the design.
That is why i buy it, for the history of the brand, not for the "useful" walkman it can do.
Thanks and sorry for the mistakes.
This is a good product. Older version of what is out now and if you want to get an MP3 player for your kids, or even a second one for working out, this would be a good one to start off with as it has a lot of the cabilities that the new ones have, but not the color screen or movie capabilities.
Its Alright Just :ove It Or Hate It. Its A ipod No Mp3 Can Match Or Beat It Its Invincible . If u like music u will love the ipod
