Generic I9 - Unlocked - Some problems but OK

The phone is a good copy of the I-Phone, but we had trouble uploading the Sitia -Legacy program to get the internet and SMS to work. Corporate T-Mobile store helped - others would not. The phone has excellent call sound quality and works great, the international aspect of the phone was difficult to work with but I expected it. The clock had to be manually set, which is odd - expected it to do as other phones and set clock from the network. I was pleased to find two batteries provided in the pack, this was a benefit that I did not expect and is needed. The phone is still new and I am learning the odds and ends of how to operate the phone. The manual could be more detailed, it is a bare knuckles edition and leaves a lot of details out.Read full review...

Reasonably priced and it works with T-mobile SIM.

I bought this iPhone 3G-8GB for couple of months now. This phone has good battery life if I turn off Wifi when not being used. wifi works great; Screen is clear; IOS is not compatible with quite a few applications. There seems to be some issue with the battery meter recently, and iOS crashed once. I had to do the "hard reset" three times to get back to the home screen (Hard reset = hold down both power button and home button for more than 15 seconds or until the apple logo comes back, then release the power button and home button, and iPhone was functioning again.
It works with my T-mobile pay as you go SIM.

On a 1-5 scale, it is a 2 in Quality & 5 in looks...kindda like an Audi

As you should know, the 3G iPhone is the successor of the 2G or 1st Generation.
The 3G is dubbed as such, mainly because it uses 3G network data, and is otherwise the 2nd Generation iPhone.
It is a good phone, & Apple has certainly tried to fix a lot of the shortcoming of the 1st Generation in the 2nd, HOWEVER do not be fooled: the 3G in is cheaper and weaker in every sense of the words.

A little about me:
I was one of the 1st to jump on the iPhone bandwagon back in 2007. Since then, I slowly ended up in the business of iPhones, where I only deal with iPhones and know them inside out & that is why I see everything Apple tried to fix iOS & hardware-wise & it is a very interesting thing to observe.

I will tell you why the 3G is a good choice over the 1st generation:
1. It runs 4.0, so you can download Apps that are made for 4.0 & up. There is always a BUT, and it is the fact that the processor in the 3G is the same as in the 2G (speed wise) so it doesn't run iOS 4 very smoothly - you will get lag.
2. Parts a replaceable. If your LCD, digitizer, speakers, mic....if anything breaks, you can replace just that part.

IMO that is it.

The 3G is a fast attempt to fix some issues the 2G had, but overall they failed with it. IMO the iPhone 4 is actually the 2nd Generation iPhone, where the 3G & 3Gs are more like educational attempts.

Don't get me wrong, the 3G is NOT a bad phone, BUT it breaks very easily and has low quality of the parts.

Here is what I don't like about it, things that were made cheaper from the 2G to the 3G:

1. The back went from aluminum to plastic, which does not dissipate heat. cracks, breaks, chips, and overall does not work better than the aluminum - however it is much cheaper, ergo why it was chosen.
2. By separating the LCD & Digitizer, they are in turn made weaker, so very often, your LCD will go blank from one drop, or your digitizer will crack. Damage induced by daily usage happens very very easily on the 3G. The 2G due to its construction was more resilient to drops and abuse.
Because all internal components are separated to make it possible for them to be changed individually, they break much easier - and that is where the parts industry comes in - China galore!
3. Internally:
a) Every mount is plastic.
b) the chrome bezel is cheaply mounted to the back plastic case, so as a result will often separate. The right fix involves more work than most people want to deal with.
c) All of the components are cheaper - they just break and break and break.
d) There are plenty of parts suppliers, so you can easily fall victim to faulty parts and it happens more often than you realize.
e) Most everything in the 2G (internally) is metal, and everything on the 3G (internally) is plastic, so you can imagine that when something breaks...
f) H2O or water sensibility - because of the way internal components are arranged vs the 2G, if you were to expose the phone to any amount of water/liquid, that probability that it will get damaged is significantly higher than in the 2G.

Overall, in the 3G certain things are attempted to be fixed from the 1st generation, but because Apple's aim was ultimately to make a cheaper, more affordable iPhone, the 3G fails as a real contender, and is just a beta testing device IMO.

If you have to choose between a 3G & 2G - you will be happier with the 2G for longer.
If you change your phones often, go for 3G.
If you have to choose between 3G &a

Sciphone i9 3g with wifi

The quality of this new model seems to be improved compared to the previous model.
The touch screen became more sensitive and accurate, there is even some kind of multi zoom, just for fun of course. wifi is fast and really finds the spots. the G sensor is much accurate then in previous model. the phone is equipped with 2 cameras, which are still far-far away from being good, but the resolution improved. The OS needs many improvements, it is not easy to install applications on this phone, even java ones that the phone is supposed to be designed for them. For example "Fring"- is impossible to install, at least it was for me. The build in Opera mini is a little bit slow, but looks nice. There is one really annoying thing in all sciphones i had before- it is about 8- there are many build in apps, including media player, that are in Chinese, even if the phone is in English
To summarize: it is not an iPhone, just a nice looking toy, but the price compared to iPhone is also a toys price.
Nice as a gadget, or a present to your kid, but as a real multimedia device it will not do the job.

well it's an iphone.. big + for quality and mp3 features

overall it's one of the best android phones of it's generation. easy to use, nice design, has all the features you'll ever need in a phone, and my favourite is the music player and sound quality which is certainly up there with the best in it's class, shame it doesn't come with a bigger battery but i'm sure if you really need it it's possible to afterinstall one. it's just a neat and slim phone.Read full review...

pretty good to use

I have bought this particullar model because the iOS is very easy to use, even from an older person. It has a big display and the best thing is the big numerals on it like the clock and phone buttons when dialing. It's features are great ! Wi-Fi ; bluetooth and it'ss very fast for browsing the net! It has a very sensitive touchscreen, which is very usefull for people who can't see very well. The sound is fantastic: it's clear;it's loud, well probably the best sound from any brand !! And yes i know what i'm talking about: I have JBL and creative speakers i nthe house, when compared to this sound(although it's from a mobile phone) the sound is great: pure, clear and loud ! The last time i bought this phone was for my mother, which has a difficulty in seeing small numerals and alphabets, and can't hear very weel either. Well with this phone she said she feels like a teenager ! :D And to be honest she adapted to it very quick, although she hasn't used an Apple product before ! She had mastered the phone for a week ! For a big newbie that's really fast ! She likes all it's features and the best thing about it is the big screen and big numerals. Also for me the phone is great too. Whether it will be for games, brosing the net, watching youtube videos, chatting in skype;FB and so on it's realy great ! The battery life is very good it lasts for 4-5 days on standby and 3 days when using it every day. The Wi-Fi range is actuall very wide, some say it's NOT, but it is wide ! My modem is a piece of crap from my ISP and i can get 2 lines on the Wi-Fi icon eventhough i'm out of my house at 2-7metres away from it.For the camera: it's better than most of the 5MP Nokia;Sony Ericsson camers...YES it IS !!! I have it compared with Nokia 5800 and allot of express music editions and SE Xperia X10i; K750i;K850i and so on...the iPhone's 2MP camera beats them with better detail and nice quality ! Really it's a BARGAIN ! the ONLY con about the phone is the finacnial side of this magnificent piece of hardware. It's pricy, BUT it's ABSOLUTELY worth it !! At a scale from one to ten i give it 9.3 WITHOUT ANY DOUBT !!!Read full review...

If this were the pre-iphone 4 years, it would easily rate it 5 stars.

As a fan & admirer of Apple products, I can still remember the unavailing of the first iPhone in high school & the hysteria that followed soon after, at least on how to obtain one. Back then you either had to have deep pockets to buy it full price, or just have a good job (and/or) loving parents to pay the AT&T bills that went with it. With generations like the 3G & so on, the ability to unlock has opened doors in terms of features & service plans, making the options much wider/affordable then before.
But as the "generations" change, as do the features, look & over all performance of the iPhones. & being the 2nd generation, the iPhone 3G has a bit to show in terms of it's predecessor, but doesn't really compare to it's next relative down the line the 3GS (My current Phone). The "S" in the name did noticeably speed up the performance quite a bit (& it surprisingly keeps up well with current iOS, can't say the same for the 3G).
My overall rating is 3 stars simply because it's not 2008 anymore, I'm done with high school & i'm growing up, and so is the iPhone. Apple's current line does show the progression of their technology, even just 4 years later. & My features rating is 4 stars because this iPhone STILL does what it was MEANT/Designed to do (even if it's not up to some of our current standards). But as the saying goes it's also important to respect our elders, and so ends my personal review of the iPhone 3G.
