Ipad 2 seems to be a good product! Since it supports ios 7.0.4 the latest operating system whereas the ipad 1 does not. So buying the ipad 2 helped me get the latest apps working. So it's great. Seems to be nice a little thinker than the air but lower price and seems to be about the same. However, camera back one seems to be pretty low quality. Overall, if your looking for a cheep Ipad I suggest this ipad 2 over the ipad air.
I'm a female techy, so this is in effort to inform those that may not be as savvy as myself. In some ways call my review biased, call me a hypocrite, but whos ever 100% about anything nowadays??? Anything Apple is a great investment. I own a new MacBook Pro, iPhone 4, iPod, and more. Which makes Apple products an exceptional buy for their quality devices at a steal of a deal where ever they have a sale. I just wanted to be up to par with technology getting the iPad 2, just to say "I own one", however there are no true differences in my first generation iPad 3G to my second generation non-3G iPad 2. It DOESNT have a quality camera like the iPhone 4 and still no Flash player. If you want more freedom and full use on ANY site, buy a different branded tablet for your needs like an Android.
The only obvious changes are 3G on Verizon's network, cameras and a new color (white), the device still remains weighted in ones hand as well as a bit slick. It's honestly not enough changes for one to feel the need to upgrade unless money isn't a factor. Apple's lineup changes yearly, so if you don't own one yet or are looking to upgrade still, just hang on a few more months for the iPad 3. Best Buy has a buy back program so you could also trade in and apply the value of your pre-owned to the purchase of a newer model with more memory/features. Still great battery life like anything Apple, there is no other electronic brand like them.
If you invest in the iPad (1 or 2), set aside funds to buy a quality protective casing and screen protector because Apple's "limited" warranty indeeds limits you, it is NOT "insurance" for accidental damage so you should wisely choose a 3rd party warranty like Best Buys to replace or repair if water damage, glass shattering or worse occurs. There's a warranty out there for everyone that doesn't want to shell out nearly a grand for a replacement iPad plus more if you need one jailbroken.
The all-new thinner and lighter design makes iPad 2 even more comfortable to hold. It's even more powerful with the dual-core A5 chip, yet has the same 10 hours of battery life. With two cameras, you can make FaceTime video calls, record HD video, and put a twist on your snapshots in Photo Booth.
I bought this product as a gift for my boyfriend. I bought a white one for myself as well. This is the most user friendly devise and the battery life is amazing compared to any other device. What we both dislike about the product is that there are no Microsoft features and most videos don't play on the device specifically those that require adobe. Overall this item is amazing, comes in handy especially during class. Does enough to keep you satisfied, highly recommended.
Ipad 2 - is a good smart tablet. I use it in my business. I dislike it because my office documents in my e-mail or usb-flash-drive i can't save to my ipad.
My experience using iPad was amazing! I bought the Ipad because of its popularity;along with that i love internet shopping! I got some really good insight on the product. i like the fact that the battery holds out pretty good, small compactible, high speed internet, and screen sensitive. Only one down fall your can't use microsoft word and douments. Other than that i highly recommend anyone to buy an ipad its super cool!!
I bought this product beacuse it's handy to use when you study in the university, it's not as big as an laptop and it's easy to carry, but i also bought the ipad 2 because i like the apps that the appstore offers.
+ The good thing with the ipad 2 is that it's easy to learn how to use it and almost all ages can master the skills that is needed to use the ipad.
+ As mentioned above, great apps
+ nice and clear display
+ nice design
- Flash player is missing, and this is the main reason why it got 4 out of 5 stars, all other tablets and smartphones have flash player but not the apple product, that's not good.
- i dont like the need to use Itunes, i just want to be able to pull music and videos and such directly into the ipad without needing to use itunes because i hate itunes.
- many restrictions, you have to live in the "apple world" and you cant use the ipad in the ways you like, changing the design and other stuff.
this is a short review and there is more to cover but this is all i could write since im to tired to write more.
I bought this in the hope that I could replace a dying PC laptop. My lack of skills and some platform issues have foiled that but I love the product anyway. Slight downside is price and weight with blue tooth keyboard case from Kensington..
Perhaps unusually I own a Motorola Xoom tablet, and a Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet (and an iPad 1). Yes I'm a gadget nut. I've used them all for extended periods. The Samsung just sucks - easily the worst of the lot. The Xoom with the new Android Honeycomb, is much better and in some ways getting closer to the Apple iPad, but still has some serious drawbacks. The main one being it's buggy, and the software seems unfinished and has not gone through the QA that Apple products have. There is a lack of decent apps, and even mainstream ones (even Google's) crash, or at the very least are just not implemented as well as the equivalents on the iPad. For example the Apple Garage Band app - there is nothing remotely like this on Android, and it's an insane few £ cost for the iPad (and works perfectly well on the iPad 1).
I predicted a year ago that it would take a year for Google to catch up with the iPad. I was wrong. More than a year later the iPad remains a significantly better product, with significantly better quality apps.
Sure it has flaws - the lack of Flash is poor, but then again Flash on Android is far from great and typically slow and lot worse quality than desktop Flash. The Cameras on the Xoom are better. The screen resolution is better on the Xoom and this in my opinion is its best feature. The iPad screen has better colour, brightness, but can't compete with the Xoom on resolution.
Oh and ignore all Android fans that say Android multi-tasking is better than iPads. It's not. In some aspects it's a lot worse.
So if you're new to tablets, I'd say get an iPad. Best value by far is an iPad 1, if you can get it at the discounted rate. The iPad 2 is a relatively minor upgrade, slightly faster, slightly thinner. The next iPad (3) had better have a high res screen or else Apple will really start to lose out. So maybe in another year Google will have caught up, and understand what it means to write slick, bullet proof, fool proof software.
Oh and one final point. Google (or perhaps their partner hardware companies) do not update their OS software like Apple do. So I will never be able to get the latest Android Honeycomb on my Galaxy Tab. But with Apple, I can get the latest software updates and they work at least 2-3 generations back. So, for example, when the improved iOS came out with support for app folders (still missing on Android), this upgrade worked perfectly on iPad1.
Product works great. Looks new but I am a little leary that the warranty has run out. I hope there is no problems with this one like I had with the white one I purchased the same time. It quit working for no apparent reason and was not fixable. Luckily it's warranty was still good. So I am keeping my fingers crossed!
