Excerpt and Information about the movie:
Meet the Stratford sisters: pretty and popular Bianca (LARISA OLEYNIK), who has never had a date; and Kat (JULIA STILES), her older sibling, an ill-tempered harridan whose acerbic wit is matched only by her steadfast determination to alienate any guy who might be remotely interested in her.
Unfortunately, strict rules in the Stratford household forbid Bianca from having a boyfriend until her odious sister has one of her own -- a situation that seems highly improbable considering Kat is a social disaster.
Bianca's desperation for romance turns into a convoluted scheme to match Kat with her male equivalent -- a guy whose reputation is so infamous, Kat might rise to the challenge and find him worthy of her concealed charms. Mating mayhem ensues when Patrick Verona (HEATH LEDGER) (a sullen young man with a mysterious past -- is bribed by Bianca's wannabe boyfriend (ANDREW KEEGAN) to woo and win Kat, in order to clear the way for Bianca to begin dating.

I Love this movie. I have probably watched it at least 5 times and I can never get enough of it. I think it’s funny and very interesting. Some movies have those dull moments but this movie is full of excitement. The actors are wonderful together. This is a must see!
As the title suggests, this film is ostensibly just for teens. However, this is not really true. I was nearly twenty four when I first saw it, and in the intervening years (I'm now 32), it has not lost a single bit of its impact. If anything, it gets better every time I watch it. It still maintains the typical "teen movie" conventions, but with a smarter and more sophisticated approach that refuses to "dumb" itself down. In this way, it gives credit to the intelligence of the average teen, instead of insulting and typifying them.
This delightful and charming piece of pop culture is actually based on Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew", and it shows. Self-referential almost to a fault (but never annoyingly so), it maintains the basic plot of the play, but with a twist. Instead of not getting married, younger Bianca is unable to date until her older sister (Kat, the "shrew" of the piece) does. The problem is, Kat refuses and is generally b**chy and vile-on the surface, at least-to the point that no boy will have her anyway (they're too scared). Enter the new kid at school who becomes so smitten with Bianca that he will stop at nothing to have her. This, of course, involves finding someone fearless enough to want to date Kat. Through a convoluted bribe scheme (that I won't get into here), he finds the perfect match in another new guy that everyone is equally afraid of, and the fun begins.
From this point on, much of the film is comprised of a "tug of war" between two equally stubborn forces of nature. She can't stand him, and he won't give up. If the end result seems obvious (and it pretty much is), don't let that stop you from giving it a try. Cleverness abounds, and the script and dialog are priceless. To this day, I find myself laughing out loud during a number of scenes, despite the fact that I've seen them a dozen times or more. Oh, and be sure not to miss the closing credits, which are given the "outtakes and bloopers" treatment. The soundtrack also remains interesting and fun to listen to and fits the overall mood perfectly (It's worth mentioning here that I am a fan of all genres of music. You may not feel the same way.).
Overall, I'd say this is a really fun and smart comedy that both teens and adults (of my generation, at least) will find worth their while.
I decided to buy the DVD as I only had the VHS. This is one of my favorite movies and is even more a favorite since the death of Keith Ledger, one of the main characters. Julia Stiles also appears in this movie as the "heinous bitch" who has been hurt deeply by a guy model who is after her younger sister and mostly in love with himself.
Kat, played by Julia Stiles, and her sister Bianca live with their Obstitrician dad who has nightmares about his teenage daughters getting pregnant and so the rule is the sisters don't date. This is no problem for Katrina but Bianca is a social butterfly and so by the middle of the movie, through a series of well though out moves by the new kid on the block, Cameron. and his buddy who runs the audio visual equiptment, they get the guy model to pay Keith Ledger to take out Kat. She starts out uninterested but slowly lets him into her emotionally blocked world. This story has its ups and downs but a happy ending with all the right people pairing up with all the right people. I love this movie. Lily
10 Thngs I Hate About You is based off of the Shakespeare play, "The Taming of the Shrew" Throughout the movie, Shakepeare "innuendos" are used and you'll probably pick up on this.
Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger star in this movie along with others.
Bianca Stratford wants to date the "coolest" guy at school who has just started to pay attention to her. Bianca's father is really overprotective so he agrees that Bianca can date when her bitch sister, Kat, dates.
The plot twists and turns, but it's hard to get lost. This movie is funny and touching and has some really good music. I'm sure you'll love it!
this movie is very good. it is a little old school but still modern for today. it is super funny. lots of laughs. mmmmMMmm heath ledger <3 yummy! o and julia stiles is pretty cool to.
Heath Ledger in one of his earlier roles and Julia Stiles are a perfect mis-match in this 'tween movie. It has a very interesting cast to help the story: Joseph Gordon-Levitt (from Third Rock from the Sun), David Krumholtz (from NUMB3RS), Andrew Keegan (from 7th HEaven). Based on Shakespeare's, "The Taming of the Shrew" it is an easier version to understand. And if you love Heath Ledger, he actually sings in this movie. The songs are awesome too, the band Letters to Cleo did a cameo.
Initially, I bought this movie because I recently became a Heath Ledger fan and I wanted to see everything he's ever done. Well... the movie was better than I expected. It is actually well written, very funny and has moments that pull on your heartstrings. This movie has a good time making fun of all the types in high school without being too harsh or corny. The band, Letters To Cleo, has three very nice spots in this film, one of them being a great rendition of Nick Lowe's Cruel To Be Kind. And Heath gets to sing in this movie. Heath and Julia are absolutely dynamite together. And don't forget to let the credits run through. There are out-takes toward the end where everyone is having a hard time keeping their hands off each other. I give it an A+.
I absolutely love this movie. It has a good story line. I would recommend this movie to teenagers. Heath Leadger is a wonerful actor & so it Julia. You should definietly see this movie.
I love this movie! The typical teenage 90's movie genre. Good romantic comedy movie to watch with friends.
Having the movie on DVD allows us all who are fans of the movie, to continue enjoying it.
Although the movie may be considered to be cliche and predictable, it doesn't hurt to enjoy the hilarious entertainment before you!
I love this movie! Heath Ledger is soOoOo sexy in this movie! I love the fact that it's a twist on William shakespeare's The Taming of the shrew. It's a must have for any Heath Ledger fan or romantic comedy fan. I adore this movie.♥
