Its a Tony Hawk game. You will grind around a whole c...ity on the edge of a sidewalk. You will shoot fifteen feet into the air off of a two foot kicker. You will crash headfirst into a concrete wall and get right back on your skateboard. Realistic? No. Fun? Oh yes. Essentially, if you have an XBox 360 or a Playstation 3, this game would be a great buy on either system. If you only have a Wii (or even a Wii and a PS2), this game is still a great buy on the Wii. The controls are good. The game utilizes the Wii remote and nunchuk exclusively. Most moves are done using the A, B, C, and Z buttons. The motion sensitive moves are performed with "flicks" or "pushes" of the remote and nunchuk. There have been complaints about the controls. Most of these that I have seen are due to a poor instruction manual that comes with the game. In-game cutscenes describe the controls better, but unfortunately they can be easily skipped. For aggro kicking, you flick the Wii remote downward everytime the onscreen skater's foot is about to make contact with the ground. For checking, you just extend both arms out when encountering another character. The main trick here is to extend the controllers and hold them out as you skate into the character. Quick out and in jabs won't work as well. Finally, on the controls, it is difficult to keep track of the analog stick and the buttons, while also flicking or pushing the controller. This can be true of many Wii games. It takes a little practice, but its not insurmountable. The graphics are decent enough. Obviously they're better on the Xbox 360 or PS3, but this is a game on the Wii. The sound is awesome, with plenty of tracks left over after disabling all the "hip hop". The game is also very challenging, and definitely has that "just one more try" (until 3:00AM) vibe. The game is unfortunately missing some of the features of the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, some of which could work perfectly well on the Wii...and this is sad...but it doesn't take away from the whole experience. If you like Tony Hawk games, and you do not have an XBox 360 or PS3, it is definitely worth looking at. Its almost, at times, like going back to 1999 when Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was released. Back when nobody knew how to play the game. Think back to skating down that first ramp in the warehouse and thinking, "okay...now what?" Yes, there is a learning curve on some of the controls, but they can be mastered. The game is F - U - N, and without doubt deserving of a higher score than a "4.0". Obviously, anybody who buys this does not have one of the more graphically advanced, more expensive, consoles. If you have a Wii, and you like the Wii, then give this a try. Its not going to push Metroid Prime 3 or Twilight Princess out of their top Wii games slots, but it definitely ranks up there with them on the fun-factor, if just a bit below them. Presentation- The cutscenes are nice, the menu systems are less annoying then some I've seen. Unfortunately, the story is a little weak and sometimes doesn't seem to apply to what is actually going on. Graphics- It looks good. Its not going to wow any Xbox 360, PS3, or PC gamers, but it looks good. The skater animation is sometimes a little robotic. Sound- Good stuff. Gameplay- It is fun. If you don't like difficulty, you may not be happy. In my experience, at least, the controls do what they're supposed to do when they're instructed to.
In this game, no ground is sacred - skate on anything that ...holds still long enough, and sneak into spots only you can find by way of ladder, rooftop or even sewer! All you need to do is just immerse yourself in the most detailed skating environement ever with Tony Hawk: Proving Ground. - Story: 8/10 - Sound: 7/10 - Picture: 8/10 One callout is there's a new personalizable feature - your very own skate lounge! You can stock it full of ramps, gear, flat-screens, cars or even helicopters, and get rewarded with lounge additions by taking on skate challenges and competitions. With all this, plus customized skating avatars, the ability to create your own skate videos and hundreds of skater challenges with different rewards, Tony Hawk: Proving Ground takes the traditonal skateboardinggame above and beyond.
I am a huge fan of Tony Hawk games and was really exc...ited about this new Wii version. I received it and played it and now my arms hurt. The controls took about a half hour to an hour to get the hang of. This is not your usual Hawk game!!! I love it. I feel like I've only scratched the surface of this game and have been playing for about 5 hours now. This game is a lot of fun for those that love the franchise...for those that have never picked up a Hawk game...it's a toughie. But, I feel I have actually accomplished something when I (finally) achieve one of the gaols assigned to me from the in game characters. FUN FUN FUN!!! It is a heck of a work out!!! Playing this game you are constantly doing something with the Wiimote and Nunchuck. So, my advice...get this game if you feel your forearms and shoulders need a good workout and if you are looking for a fun skateboard game. The challenges and locations along with great characters make this game a lot of FUN. But be prepared for some soreness..at least if you play as hard as I do :O)
The games great, I've played all of the Tony Haw...k's game. The graphics are good and the challenges are new. Only downside is the way you use the Wii controls. It's way different from any of the older systems and a little hard to get used to. But I picked it up in less then a half hour! I would def reccomend to someone.
Game was scratched and not worth the money make sure game ...is in new condition!
