Alright, Alright, I know that most Christian Rock Bands are about as cool as having Bobo the clown at your 21st birthday, and prior to hearing Jars of Clay, I might have commiserated with the massess. However, with the purchase of the Eleventh Hour, JoCs 3rd album to go platnium, I must humbly revoke all preconceived notions. Not only do they have a rock-ish sound and cool melodies, their message isn't overtly Christian. In fact, when I first bought their album, I didn't even know they were a Christian band. Unfortuantely, people don't put them in the same category as say Switchfoot or Relient K, even though they're all reported as to have said that they are primarily Christian bands. Alas, Jars of Clay is an overlooked album, but even the emo kids can't deny the fact that the songs are actually GOOD. I especially like, "Whatever she Wants," and "Scarlett" songs that make you rock your holy socks off. So the moral here is that JArs of Clay is more than your mom's gospel CD. It's all you love about rock, minus the sex, drugs, girls, booze, bad haircuts, horrible singing...wait a minute, I like that about rock...a paradox. I bought this album because I needed a change from the screamo/ska/emo/indie/punk/powerpop that I had been henceforth feeding my brain. I recommend this CD to anyone how wants to try something, ANYTHING new. Don't worry, you don't have to thank me. Just doing my job.Read full review
Overall, this cd is going to interest you if you're into their old stuff. It comes with two Cd's. One allows you to have access to four JOC movies and a string arrangement of Worlds Apart (The videos can only be accessed on a Windows PC). Each track contains live tracks from several shows. If you have a chance to buy this Cd, do it if you are a dedicated JOC fan. You might be disappointed if you're not very familiar with their self-titled album
I always to try new things. Music is something to take for a test drive before deciding yea or nea. This cd didn't really bring me in or put me out. It is a neautral which means it is probably good for traveling. So,if you are like me,it is worth giving a try. The price is reasonable.
Solid release from Jars. Stirring rock, although Christian, that can be appreciated by anyone. Like all Jars albums, the mix quality is rich and crisp. Doesn't get any better than this.
This cd, as well as the other Jars of Clay cd's, is great!! I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys good music. All of there songs have a good beat and share great messages!
