I bought this to cook over campfire using cast iron pot. I have not tried it yet but it is not a cast iron tripod. It screws together. I am going to try it anyway, just using a light cast iron pot. I think best used in flower gardens. A hanging flower pot would be nice for this tripod.

Great tripod set. Heavy duty for major reenactment demands. I modified mine so that the two legs can be removed from the loop of the third leg to make a standard campfire spit. Great investment!

This is just what you need to cook over an open fire with a Dutch oven. Easy to assemble and any size cast iron Dutch oven works. Happy Cooking

The first thing I'd change is to make the chain about 6" longer. If my campfire were in a dug out pit, the current chain may not be long enough. The other thing is very minor but, I personally, would like the legs to be one section longer. If they were each 4 sections, instead of three, the tripod would stand about 8"-10" taller and I could hand a 20" round grill grate from the chain. These are just suggestions/wishes lol The product, as it is now, is probably the best of its price class that you'll find on eBay,
