While it's difficult to recapture the so-called glory years over the course of a near 30+ year music career it's not necessarily a must for Def Leppard. Will new releases enjoy the commercial success and unit sales of past recordings such as Hysteria and Pyromania? Probably not but it doesn't matter. The fact the group is still together producing enjoyable sounds that old and new fans alike can enjoy, then it's mission accomplished. I'm finding that the more I play Songs from the Sparkle Lounge the more it grows on you. I wish them only continued success and am very grateful they're still here to be enjoyed.
What can I say, these guys still got it. Songs from the Sparkle Lounge starts off rocking hard with the first 3 songs. Go is the first song and its a hard rocker then Nine Lives and C'mon C'mon continue the momentum. Love is #4 starts off a little sappy but then quickly gets going and is not bad at all for a ballad. Songs 5,6 and 7 pick up the pace and rock nicely. Song #8 entitled Only the Good Die Young is not a cover tune, but an entirely new song and its a good one! Of the last 3 songs, Bad Actress, Come Undone and Gotta Let It Go. Gotta Let It Go is the most rocking but, the others the rock as well. I grew up with these guys and can tell you while this isn't 1981's High n Dry or Pyromania. It is a return to their more hard rocking side. Its sort of a mix between Hysteria and Pyromania. If you like or liked Def Leopard you'll like this album. Check it out you'll be glad you did.Read full review

ANOTHER MASTERPIECE FOR DEF LEPPARD FANS OUT THERE ! ME BEING A HUGE DEF LEP FAN IN MY OPINION THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING ! THE ALBUM STARTS OFF LIKE A BELT IN THE FACE WITH THE HEAVY SOUNDING TRACK TITLED "GO" ! ALBUM NEVER LETS UP HAS HEAVY RIFS, GREAT VOCALS AND OF COURSE THE CLASSIC DEF LEPPARD SOUND. THE SONG LOVE ON THE ALBUM AS A AMAZING QUEEN FINE TO THE SONG WITH ALL OF THE VOCAL HARMONIES AND THE WAY THE SONG IS PERFORMED ! IF YOU DO NOT OWN THIS ALBUM IT IS A MUST BUY ! BEST TRACKS ON ALBUM ARE: BAD ACTRESS, LOVE, C'MON C'MON. WHO AM I KIDDING THERE ALL AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This new release sounds as if it was released in 1988. Back to the classic Def Leppard we all know and love. Tim Mcgraw's addition to Nine Lives has no bearing on the CD, you wouldn't even know it was him if it wasn't the 1st single and video released off the album. Check out C'mon C'mon (my personal favorite track) Reminds me of a combination of Rocket and Mas Tequilla from Sammy Hagar. 4-1/2 out of 5. Great job guys.
Great music. It Rocks...A great value. Buy it.now!
