I bought this as a replacement for the one I've had in the back yard for years. This one is one piece of wood for the base and plastic sides, ends, and roof with cardboard for the inside dividers. I wish they were plastic or more sturdy. I will have to remake them after the year of use. The instructions said they were waxed, but I couldn't tell. I usually get one or two Carolina Blue birds nesting in it. (No purple martins in this area, I guess) But the interior only lasts for a year or so. I take it down in the fall and clean it out and put it up at the end of winter. I'll probably make the partitions out of fiber board. It is pretty easy to put together if you follow the instructions and work carefully. The bottom is not marked but the holes for the screws are drilled so be careful as to what side is up so the sides will be flush and fit square. You may need another set of hands for a few minutes. Good father/son type project.Read full review

I was surprised to find out the exterior was entirely plastic and the interior was flimsy cardboard. It stated the cardboard was plastic coated, but it was not. My husband put it together, as the pieces were difficult and needed to be modified. I used the cardboard as a template and used some sturdier material for the insides. Once all that was done I loved it because it reminded me of driving down the road and seeing those barns when I was young.

A very nice birdhouse and easy to assemble. The only problem is the cardboard dividers for the inside. Really? They expect them to last even a year? I used those for a pattern to cut some out of plywood I have. Those will last. other than that, I would buy more and probably will.

I had to coat the dividers inside the birdhouse with duct tape to make the cardboard waterproof. I also had to crazy glue the perches on the entrances to the birdhouses they were too loose and could easily fall out.. This is my second birdhouse like this, the first was purchased at rock city and was destroyed by a wind storm where I live.
