I decided to buy this book because Hill Harper was the keynote speaker at a closing camp luncheon for a non-profit organization for juveniles who have been abjudicated or on probation. I am a reading literacy teacher at a Southeast Texas juvenile detention center and my organization purchase books for my classroom as well as the on-site library. When selecting books for my classroom I review books that will uplift and plant a spirit of change for the young offenders. This books does promote change and motivates young men to write a blueprint of success for their own lives. He encourages the young man which he communicates with vis e-mail and regular mail to dream big and even with that dream dream bigger than that. Hill addresses issues that teenagers and young adults face on a day to day basis such as sex, being raised by a single parent, relationships and yes even getting into trouble with the law. I give this one a thumbs up and look forward to reading Letters To A Young Sister.Read full review
I initially got this book for my son, but as a parent I read it first. I read this book in an hour. And all I have to say is I wish someone had this idea when I was growing up. This book also helped me in a few areas in my life. What a great thing Hill Harper is doing. He is empowering and uplifting with honesty. I am going to get another one and give it to my daughter to read. This is going to be an addition to our family book club. This book dealt with issues that are faced but not dealt with. If everyone read this book, they would be a better person..making this a better world to live in.
I brought this book for my son to read during the summer. He is still reading it, but find it interesting. I am reading one of his other books about relationships. Very talented and interesting author!
