Whether or not you will like this album depends on the brand of Outkast that you prefer. As a lifelong fan, I like the old school rap flavor of Outkast and not the techno/soul/R&B futuristic garbage on The Love Below. The Idlewild soundtrack is a new sound but there is plenty of rapping, by Andre and especially Big Boi, to make it very worth while. Mighty O is one of the best songs I have ever heard and now is the perfect time for a song like Hollywood Divorce (ft. Lil Wayne and Snoop) to come out. This album definately has the funky melodies that you could expect from a musical by Outkast. Even with 25 songs, it is almost a CD that you can just play straight through. It is still in rotation in my disc changer and it is great, fresh Outkast of old. Also, three of the best songs that were played in the movie are on the SpeakerBoxxx album. I just dusted my copy off and now these two albums are my first choice in the playlist. The Roach - Plymouth, MNRead full review
Outkast Is Back! Just got the CD today and all I can say is...Outkast Idlewild Is Back! In my opinion, they started to fall off with Speaker Box and The Love Below...not like they used to be. Idlewild takes it back to the ATLiens and Aquemini days with dope beats and funky twists. I must admit that there are some corny songs in there, but that is a given with any album. Because this album is based off their movie, it has a nice southern swang to it. I've been listening to Outkast since day one and this is a must buy for any fan. Squash all those rumors about them splitting up and that they have fallen off...the Mighty O has returned. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is some album art and track listing: 01. 88% of the CD played good until it started skipping.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
I own most of Outkast and lots of the Dungeon family's music...this was almost the worst Outkast album I've ever heard.....the production was below average, lyrics were sloppy, and uninteresting.....Outkast rarely ever records together as a group anymore which is their tried and true formula to success and how they started. A disappointment n a nutshelll
