Worst book ever . Most of it talks about how the author hates men and beer but she drinks as well . What dose this have to do with FERRETS ? Every two - three pages the book contradicts itself . One page don't feed them fruits / vegges two pages latter give them Fruit and vegges ??? Two pages on make room for the ferrets by getting rid of your beer can wall ..? I don't drink and what dose this have to do with ferrets ? DON'T LEAVE FERRETS OUT OF THE CAGE ALONE then page or two latter " while sitting out side on my porch having a drink a ferret walks up to me and it looks like mine " She let the ferrets out then went outside . she was outside so long the ferrets ( all 7 ) made a hole in the dryer vent and the dryer outlet ? dang . Plus don't forget her failed attempts at jokes and M&M ripoffs that really date the book . I learned NOTHING from this book ! How long should you let the ferrets out ? what if they get a hold of some soda ? dose milk really kill them ? are they super sensitive to sound ? etc etc etc . SAVE YOUR MONEY !Read full review

We have owned a ferret for several years, and I thought I knew a great deal about them. After adopting a pair of abused rescue ferrets, I bought this book for information on socializing them. This book provided that info and much, much more! It starts out explaining what to consider before buying a ferret, continues on into house-proofing your home for their safety, with great info and pictures on ferret body language. There's even an excellent chapter on illnesses and their symptoms, which could save your little "carpet shark's" life! I now feel much more confident as a ferret owner. This is a fun-to-read, easy to understand book, and the humor is wonderful! A must-have for every ferret owner, veterinarian or rescue shelter.
This is the best ferret book I have ever read. It covers every aspect of ferret care, from history and health to enrichment and diets. Not only is it comprehensive, it is a fun and easy read. The author has a great sense of humor, and her tone makes it seem as if you were discussing ferrets with her, not lecturing you. For anyone interested in ferrets, this is a great starter book. And for experienced ferret owners, this is a great refresher with a ton of new ideas. The book also includes a listing of other ferret resources, including a brief list of shelters. I recommend this book to every person interested in ferrets.
This book is the "Bible" for ferret owners. It should be mandatory to buy it, before anyone gets their first ferret. They will use this book from the very first ferret, and will still be using it when they are pros. It explains all the pros and cons of ferret ownership and the responsibility that comes with it. It will start you out at the very beginning, and explain everything you want to know about ferrets. Food, caging, playtime, diseases and disorders, potty training, how to correct certain behaviors and even tells you about grieving. How to pick a vet, shots they need, how often, a first aid checklist, medical issues, breeding and ferret resources. I can't say enough about this book. If everyone read this book first, there would be a lot less ferrets in shelters. Please buy this book before you buy or adopt your ferret. You'll never regret it.Read full review
