Th...is is an excellent A/V receiver if its features match your needs. This model is two generations behind the current product offering, but with it, you can avoid the cost of "bleeding edge" technology. Adding in being a refurbished unit with a one-year Denon factory warranty made this an exceptional buy! I needed a more up to date unit for bedroom use to replace a 7 year old Harman Kardon unit (excellent for its time!), work with a 3D HDTV, have the latest surround sound format support, and reduce the amount of cable clutter. Another feature I required was a digital optical output (for an expensive pair of Sony surround headphones) now missing from later models. The unit offers the excellent Audyssey room calibration system that provides quality surround setup painlessly. The unit offers a more powerful, finely detailed listening experience. Now for a few quibbles: First this is a tall unit (6.70"). Had to modify a monitor stand I am using to gain the extra necessary height. Being more powerful, this unit runs warmer (even at low levels), but has caused no issues. Finally, (and true of all recent A/V receivers independent of manufacturer), convenience A/C outlets are now missing. I also have a Denon AVR-3310 that has two outlets that I find useful. Here, I had to add another surge protector to get these outlets. However, the pluses outweigh the minuses, and the AVR-2311CI is a great value if can track one down!
Not the e...asiest piece to navigate at first. It replaces my Denon 2307CI. The CEC on the unit is nice in comparison along with 3X more HDMI inputs. My previous Denon only had (2). The remote is nicer seeing that the better portion of the buttons glow in the dark. Most of us prefer watching 3D movies that way. Switching inputs is easier also. I would recommend this to a friend that had a serious 3D set up. In time like most things you enjoy, you'll get the hang of it.
nice, good sound, much easier to set up than older ...Denon models. Audessy EQ works nice. Nice clear on screen display. lots of cool new features that I'm still discovering.
