I'm not new to exercise DVD's, but this was my first venture into the land of Tae Bo with Billy Blanks. I must say I was very impressed that the time went by soooooo quickly. That may be due to the "festiveness" of his background exercisers and the cool music. These things were very motivating. Billy also has a LOT of energy and a pleasant personality. His cues for upcoming moves were pretty good. Although he does include information about proper form and some tidbits of what muscles I was working during the DVD, I would have liked more. I was amazed that I wasn't sore in my arms or abs like I thought I would be after doing all the exercises that supposedly focused on these areas. I did feel it in my legs due to the intense workout toward the end where your on your hands and knees. However, I feel if it weren't for that segment, I might not be sore in my legs either. I couldn't help but think that all of the buff bodies in this DVD did not get that way by doing this particular exercise routine. Overall, a fun workout but not too challenging.Read full review
I have really been enjoying kick boxing lately, so I figured Billy Banks would be a good addition to my collection. All of the other kickboxing DVDs I don't have a hard time keeping up with, but for some reason, Billy's moves are a little more complex than I am used to. Also, he will do the moves/combinations one (sometimes two) times and then I have to keep up, which I have a hard time doing right now. Maybe I need to do the workout for longer than I have to "get" it, so for now, I am sticking with my other DVDs.
This was the first Tae Bo dvd I ever bought, and it started a whole new level of working out for me. I love Billy's workouts, and I think this is one of his best! It's about 42 minutes long, and the cool-down starts at 36 minutes. He includes all of his classic moves in this one. I love to kick, and he includes all of the different types of kicks (front kick, back kick, roundhouse, extended roundhouse, side kicks, etc). This workout does not require any bands, balls, or bars. It is simply cardio and Billy does a great job explaining each move and transitioning between moves. He has you do each move at a slow pace for 3-4 counts of eight, then a fast pace (he calls it "Cardio!") for 2-3 counts of eight. The first time I ever did this workout, I found the constant counting to be a little disconcerting: Shelly (Billy's daughter) wears a mike and she and the rest of the class count from 1-8 throughout the entire workout. They count like this throughout all of his Tae Bo workouts--it's just something to adjust to if you're new to Tae Bo. I recommend this workout to anyone looking for an alternative to the treadmill, elliptical machine, stair stepper, etc. I exercised at gyms for 12 years and I have never found any workout that is so engaging and fun as Tae Bo! In fact, I no longer belong to a gym and now exercise at home with Billy's tapes and some hand weights and a stability ball with better results than I ever got at a gym!Read full review
Let me start by saying I am a taebo buff! I love Billy and the gang and the videos they produce but I have to say that this is one of the best dvd's I have ever bought. It does not use the bands but it is genuinely fun. I normally work out 4-5 times a week and this really works up a sweat. In hardly any time you have already finished 45 minutes of fat burning. I would recommend this to anyone!
Extremely fast weight loss!!! Billy Blanks energy exumes from the tv screen and is very contagious. I am now down to a lean 150# down from 400. If I can do this anyone can. I would greatly recommend this to anyone who is interested in losing weight fast and keeping it off. I can't say enough good things about it. All hail Billy Blanks and his exercise CD's.
