Armed Madhouse by Greg Palast (2006) is a book I highly recommend. I am a person who likes other point of views. This is a book that shows the plight of the American people and the people of the world. A Class war, with greed and power at all cost, peoples lives are just a number to be used. It covers some of the pass and also the present administrations and their ties to power. You may fine it to reveling, if you have an administration you like or don’t like.
Greg Palast used to be a fraud and racketeering investigator, and he does a terrific job snooping behind the scenes of what our government tells us.... like, it ain't always true. "Follow the money" -- that's what they said in Watergate, and that's what Palast does. Who PROFITS from endless wars -- any surprise that it's the military industrialists? Check out Cheney's and the Bush family's stakeholdings. If it were only our pocketbooks that suffered, it would be bad enough. But young Americans are dying to put more dollars in the pockets of the arms manufacturers. (Not to mention Iraqi civilians -- over 100,000 by some estimates -- but they don't cound to the "compassionate conservatives"!) And if you care at all about us having a democracy, you'd better read the section on election-rigging. Like, Black soldiers? Golly, are they supposed to count? And the things that went on in Ohio in '04.... My son read this book and couldn't put it down. I HAD to keep putting it down because I got so mad at what I was reading. Of course you don't have to read it. Ignorance is bliss. But if we WANT a democracy, we need to be informed if we want to keep it.Read full review
