ZTE TracFone is high value for low money.
I bought this phone for a trip to Kentucky and wanted 1)an emergency phone and 2)GPS to run my copilot program. I bought this on ebay for 19.98 including shipping and was using it within 1/2 hour of it's arrival. TracFone was easy to set up over the computer and here in Asheboro NC and on my trip to Louisville Kentucky I was never without service. GPS and Copilot program worked well. Not as good as when I use my wife's nexus but the difference is time to calculate route not directions to get you there. If your not familiar with copilot it resides completely in memory so it takes a large amount of storage for all the maps.
The other features like the camera and mp3 I have tried and seem to work fine but I have other dedicated devices for them so I don't feel qualified to reveiw them. If you want a cheap phone with good service and a travel guide then for the price I don't think you'll be disappointed.Read full review

Good phone and lot's of features for the price.
I decided to buy a TracFone ZTE Valet after being on a contract phone service for several years. I had a Tracfone when I first started using cell phones and it was great. This phone for the money is a great phone for starting with a smartphone, although I am a little lost sometimes. The keypad seems small, touchy and I have trouble using it. I have had problems with converting my phone numbers from my old phone to the ZTE using the scan disk card. I finally just manually enter them, this also goes for the photos also. I was putting info into the contacts list and somehow got into another section that had phone contacts on it with some of the same listings. What's with that? It seems hard to delete numbers and import items to me. The camera is about average nothing to get excited about. It is slow sometimes when trying to get on the wifi and when you put the data, sync, and get other programs going your battery life drops really quick. I have had to charge it every night while I am learning how to program it and use it. On the plus size the phone reception is great and I have had no trouble with calling and talking on it. My son has a Iphone and says it is easier, but for the cost I am willing to keep learning and hopefully become more smarter with the smartphone as I continue to learn how to use it. I mainly brought it because of the price and for calling, but having other technology is fun if you don't let it overwhelm you.Read full review

ZTE Valet: entry-level tracfone "smart" phone ......
The ZTE Valet is semi-smart phone, that is, it's a phone with data and wifi to access the internet and also send and receive text messages, download and use app's from the Google app. store, set alarms, 3 mp camera with flash to take pic's and record video, a notepad function, store and listen to music, micro sd card for extra storage etc....
So it's got a lot of useful features but talk more than 20-25 minutes and and your battery dies and after awhile, the device begins to become tempermental, even if you haven't dropped it, and it's "very" fragile so don't drop it or you will surely suffer diminished functionality to the point that the device must be replaced - I have replaced 2 of these phones and I haven't even dropped this third one, haven't had it that long and it is maddeningly slow with some app's like yahoo mail and google maps.
This was an OK intro. smart phone for someone like me that doesn't use the phone all that much but wants a device to access the internet and check e-mail using wifi or data, if necessary, and wants a pay as you go plan like like tracfone to keep the cost to $10 a month or less....BUT now tracfone offers 2 much better and bigger smart phone options which is what I have bought so I think the ZTE Valet is like every other electronic device... once there is a newer better one, it is doomed.Read full review

Good phone for the money.
This is a good phone for the money. It came with an airtime card that was worth the price of the phone. The processor is reasonably quick, and it does what it is supposed to do.
The screen is average size, about the same as an iPhone 4s. A little small for an older person, but would be fine for most people. The camera is only 3 pixels, with a digital zoom, so the pictures are OK, but nothing to rave about. Same with the video. Works fine, but there is no zoom on the video.
We rarely use our phone, so Tracfone is a very inexpensive way for us to have one. They piggyback on Verizon 3G, which works well in our area. The ZTE also allows you to connect through a wireless network and make calls and surf the web without using your minutes. It connects quickly to a wireless network and works seamlessly.
Tracfone is just now allowing smartphones to run on their network, so expect to see more powerful phones in the near future. But this is a good phone for the money, and cheap enough that, if it breaks or gets lost, you can just buy another. Would make a great first phone for a kid!Read full review
