A desert island viewing choice
You wouldn't think it's possible to love a show about British bureaucrats, but trust me, it is. This show has great British humor, but anyone who's ever dealt with a government bureaucracy can appreciate it. Once, making idle conversation with a Brit (who also happend to be a civil servant himself) at dinner, I mentioned that I was watching the show on DVD from Netflix and enjoying it. He carefully put down his utensils, wiped his lips with his napkin, and turned in his chair to face me head on. I thought I'd horribly offended him, but he said "If I was stuck on a desert island, I would insist on having a TV, a DVD player, and the complete "Yes, Minister" series. Turns out he was an unalloyed fan of the show. I've since watched the complete show twice more by checking out the DVDs from the library and finally bought a copy myself, making my way throught he show a fourth (and certainly not last) time.Read full review

Great to have this British comedy on demand.
No problem with any of the four DVD's. Great series to have at home on demand. Not available on Netflix.

Yes Minister rates at the top of great British comedy
If youre not a bit cynical about those flowery speeches made by British politicians at times as they manoeuvre around issues while putting on the right face for the occasion, this should be edifying for you no doubt Im sure. It really does take you back a bit when such brazen honesty is displayed behind closed doors as to the thinking patterns that seem to pervade the political atmosphere given the unbreakable spirit of political correctness at all cost and above all else. It is satire at its very best and needs to be rather closely watched by all those who love that which is British.

The precursor to Yes, Prime Minister this DVD collection is a must have. Written by Johnathan Lynn who also penned and Directed, Clue: The Movie. The political satire is truly hilarious. Sir Humphrey Appleby is one for the record books. This DVD collection, I watch again and again, and notice more and more every time. A must have and I am unanimous in that.
