Vocabularies Review by RHAM4204
Bobby is an extreme talent!
His ability to selectively channel his vocal abilities are astounding.
On this CD Bobby is working in concert with a few additional vocalist and percussionist that not only enhance his astounding talent, it promotes him to a new level vocamentalisum!
(That's my word of course)
There are at least 2 selections on the CD that are more than entertaining.
The best track on this CD I believe is Say Ladeo which exhibits outstanding vocal execution from Bobby with combined instrumentation from selective afrorythmic percussion.
The sweet melodic and hypnotic melody of Say Ladeo can cascade you to that perfect beach in the carribbean where only your individual imagination can take you!
It is truely a song that is worth listening to.
In saying that, I think the songs on this CD will touch an individual in some way or manner.
I can only give my honest assessment and criticism of this CD.
I look at it like this,
It is easy to be critical on someone elses work.
But just take a moment to think and honestly ask yourself,
In criticism any selection on the CD,
Could I do a better job?
Thank you.Read full review

There is a fantastic selection and blend of vocal talents on McFerrin's latest and long time coming, VOCABULARIES. Very unique, overall, with fantastic percussion and rhythms. The focus is the multiple complex vocal layers, conversing, dancing, flying, marching, interacting, whispering on and on.. What a great tribute to the genre of vocal ensemble performance, an area of music that does not get nearly enough recognition (and exposure) for its genius. There is a "seriousness" about the work and it brings out a range of emotions in the listener. So glad to hear the great vocalese artist, Kim Nazarian on some of the cuts.
