if you have to fall in love DO IT IN ROME~
2 American woman working for an american based company look for love in one of the most beautiful cities in the world Rome. Maggie McNamara is lovely and funny as the clever schemer out to attract an handsome italian prince (Louis Jordan) using both her innocent beauty and her scheming mind. He likes Modern ART and he spots her admiring modern art at the museum. He plays the piccolo ..he picks her up for a date and she is playing the piccolo. Suddenly the prince is hooked and McNamara is ready to "reel" him in. Dorothy McGuire as the long suffering in silence but madly in love with her very middle aged author boss. (Clifton Webb) When his secretary is ready to leave to go back to the US Webb finally decides he cannot live with out (McGuire) his secretary. This is a chick flick no doubt but the Oscar Winning Song Three Coins in a Fountain is entertaining. The clever mind of Maggie McNamara is what keeps us "tuned" in to see what the next step up "bait" the Prince is . The scenes of Rome are pretty in color. the outlandish apartments where three women with minor pay can afford is definately funny but they live in a vila~ sure~ The Cranky Webb is fun to see how soon he catches on about love. The classic phrase three coins in a fountain being the women go drop coins in the fountain to wish for romance. a fun way to pass a afternoon. if you found this review helpful please remember to vote~ Read full review

Excellent Film Even Today
Having been to Rome recently for the first time, we found this film very up to date despite being over fifty years old. If you haven't been to Rome you will want to make the trip. One bit of trivia. This was the first film for Italian and James Bond actress Luciana Paluzzi. Though uncredited, she plays the sister of one of the male leads preparing for her wedding. She was only 14 at the time! She's made some great films since and is still gorgeous today.

I have watched this DVD, enjoyed it. Great quality.
I have not seen this movie since I was a teen. I love old movies and I can remember that this was a popular movie. I decided to buy it because the price was resonable compared to ordering on Amazon. The movie has been remastered and it was great. It took place in Italy and the scenery was beautiful.

Three Coins in the Fountain (2004, DVD)
Starring Clifton Webb and Dorothy McGuire, this movie filmed in the 1950s, is about three American women seeking romance in Italy. Throwing a coin in the Fountain of Trevi will naturally assure them that they will one day return to Rome. Or will it? This is a must see for romantics who enjoy charming old movies. Delightful to a fault, it has a beautiful musical score, outstanding scenery, and a story line riddled with cuteness. And those who have visited modern day Rome will be amazed at seeing Rome as it once was.
