THE LORD OF THE RINGS
When this movie was first released, people tried to compare it to Harry Potter. The only thing similar between the two is that they are fantasy novels. Both are excellent films, but LOTR is much more mature and dark. Excellently acted, written and directed. Spectacular special effects and settings make this film believable. But don’t watch it unless you are ready to invest yourself, the story takes off quickly and similarity in names of people and places become easily confused. Well worth the time spent, and excellent book to film adaptation. The films couldn’t have been better.

The film which begins the tale of the Lord of the Rings
Excellent screen adaptation of a classic story. Since it happens to be my favorite book (or, rather: Trilogy which tells one story), I believe that the film-makers did an incredibly good job of taking J.R.R.Tolkien's tale, and translating it to film.

The film is done superbly, and I believe that even if you are not a "Lord of the Rings fan", you will enjoy the film.

Parents with small children may want to be aware that some aspects of the tale are somewhat intense for younger people. The film, obviously would amplify that effect. Basically, The Lord of the Rings (the name of the trilogy, of which "The Fellowship of the Ring"is the beginning)is a fantasy, allegorical tale about the battle between good and evil. Being fantasy, it is peopled with creatures such as dwarves, elves, hobbits, orcs, trolls, and other fantastical creatures.

The Fellowship of the Ring details the beginning of the formation of a fellowship which attempts to destroy the one Ring of Power, which was created by a powerful, evil being, who still rules one of the chief lands in this tale. There are wonderful adventures, along the way. Wonderful, partially because I was watching them on a television, not engaged in them.

Excellent entertainment!!!!!Read full review

DVD vs. VHS
I did not have the DVD of this movie and wanted the colection all on DVE. I have enjoyed the movie very much. Almost as well as the books.
