I love Jim Morrison but not the movie
I grew up with Jim Morrison and "the doors". This movie was not taken from fact a lot of it was from fiction. I have read probably 50 books on the subject and this movie was a great disappointment to me. They portrayed Jim Morrison as a dope. I realize Morrison had problems in his life with both drugs and alcohol however the movie portrayed him as a dope and not as a kind and caring man that he often was

~Amazing movie for any fan of Jim Morrison/The Doors!~
Jim Morrison is one of the most iconic front-men in all of music entertainment. This movie portrays such a vast array of his life, poetry, and personality. Even if you're not entirely fixated with Morrison, the story behind the other members of The Doors takes you back in time! 'Sex, Drugs, and Rock N' Roll' with other iconic people such as Robby Krieger, John Densmore, Ray Manzarek, Pamela Morrison, and even the fashionably unusual Andy Warhol, among others! 'The Doors' is an amazing movie and Val Kilmer plays an EXCELLENT Jim Morrison! Kilmer seems to have taken the role to another level, such as his role of Doc Holliday in 'Tombstone' or Jamie Foxx in 'Ray'. This movie is a must-see for any fan of Morrison, The Doors, or rock n' roll in its' finest years!

I think Val Kilmore looks like a great Jim Morrison! I'm not a big Meg Ryan fan but after seeing what Pamela looks like she does fit her fine.

Totally awesome DVD. Val Kilmer is phenomenal. OUTSTANDING FILM
Bought this because I had recently seen the movie and decided I had to have it for myself!
Special features are great, and the movie is high-quality.

Great movie! Pretty much as I remember Jim Morrison.
I really loved the trailers where Oliver Stone recalls the making of the movie and the acting was sensational. I actually remember the New Haven concert where Jim is arrested. Came from California to Connecticut without realizing how Puritan New Englanders can be.
Not that Jim wasn't outrageous! He unfortunately was swept up in the excesses of the 60s and like so many of the great ones, Janis Joplin, jimi Hendrix died because it was a time of extremes. Jim had it all and had no where else to go except down in history.
I lived and loved every minute of it and I'm still here. I bought this movie because believe it or not I found a portrait of Jim at an auction and his eyes followed me everywhere until I bought it. Had to see the movie after that and couldn't believe that it was as well done as it was!Read full review
