Such a great movie
This movie is one of the best westerns of all time. It could be shorter and still be as good. Most of the people I've talked to about it said they were so bored that they turned it off before it was done. But if you watch the whole thing, its really about the last hour that MAKES the movie. It's a pretty historically accurate depection of the death of Jessie James (brad pitt), and the stalker/freak named Robert Ford (casey afleck) that killed him. Ford stalked and knew everything about Jessie James, who was a HUGE celebrity of his time. He eventually joined James in a robbery and then began to live with James and his family. He wanted the celebrity that James had, but knew that he didnt have the characteristics necessary to obtain it. So he got his fame by killing James. He was turned into an instant celebrity, and made a fortune re-inacting the murder in a touring play. It's said in the movie that more people could identify Robert Ford during this time than the president of the United States. After Ford started to regret his actions and settle down, he to was murdered by someone that just wanted the fame that Ford had. It's truly a great movie. Give it a chance, but it is almost 3 hours long and could be told in under 2.Read full review

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert F
Well, I believe Brad Pitt did a good job, being like Jesse James. No one likes the Robert Ford character. Each actor did a great job of old western acting. The scenery was very imaginative, with the snowy backgrounds, and settings. Afleck did a great job,but a very weird character thats for sure. a FUNNY scene took place when bob brother went to talk to Jesse james brother about being sidekicks,so Jesse James brother told him, there will be no more robberies, and there will be no reason for sidekicks, so you can go and write that in your journal. Talk about a funny line, and the tough talk of a cowboy. This movie has a good swagger to it, but its sad that Robert Ford was a coward and shot Jesse James in the back without his guns. Not too mention with his back turned.
History proves in the old west if you shoot someone in the back, instead of a official gun fight, you are a coward.Overall it was a good movie, and produce very well. Brad Pitt as I said before acted very well, and acted just like Jesse James.

Very great movie and pretty accurate
Brad Pitt was simply amazing, as was Afleck. There's been many Jesse james movies in the past but none have been as close to accurate as this one. Very well put together backgrounds, deep characters and a clean narriation helps understand the transitions during the story. Good action scenes and dialog is crisp. Must see if you're into western style movies and good blurays that "pop" on screen!

Well Done.. But...
A extremely long movie that you have to be ready for. Directed well, very good acting make to long run time bareable. It's a artistic telling with great filming. Part docu-drama, and history tale spining... Not a traditional western. A good movie overall.

Good movie if you like the genre
Great Picture and sound. With the Blu-Ray DVD transfer its great watching it in HD. I the plot and acting are solid, but I really think having seen the regular dvd vs. the Blu-Ray there is no comparison. If you like the story you will love the Blu Ray version
