About this product
|Now an HBO original series, True Blood - the New York Times bestselling Sookie Stackhouse series continues. Except for Sookie Stackhouse, folks in Bon Temps, Louisiana, know little about vamps - and nothing about weres. Until now. The weres and shifters have finally decided to reveal their existence to the ordinary world. At first all goes well. Then the mutilated body of a were-panther is found near the bar where Sookie works - and she feels compelled to discover who, human or otherwise, did it. But there's a far greater danger threatening Bon Temps. A race of unhuman beings - older, more powerful, and more secretive than vampires or werewolves - is preparing for war. And Sookie finds herself an all-too human pawn in their battle.|
Starred Review. Vampires started the craze of coming out to the ordinary human world. Now weres and shapeshifters have done the same. In a highly publicized TV interview, a gorgeous young woman explains that there are those who appear completely human but have a second nature within, which she then demonstrates by turning into a wolf. Some mortals are shocked and become belligerent. The issues of minority rights and hate crimes become a real problem when Crystal, a pregnant werepanther and estranged wife of Sookie Stackhouse's brother Jason, is found nailed to a cross. In the midst of this horror, Sookie finds her own life endangered by a rebellion in the land of the Fairies. It seems her fae great-grandfather's princely power is being challenged, making Sookie a target of the rebels. Then there is Sookie's love life. The handsome, formidable vampire Eric has tricked Sookie into a much closer relationship with him, not that she minds too much. Three strong story lines lead to an intensely gripping finale. The ninth book in the Sookie Stackhouse series is one of the best. Librarians, be warned: buy multiple copies.Patricia Altner, Biblioinfo.com. FOR SOOKIE STACKHOUSE THE DAY TO DAY ACTIVITIES OF THE VAMPIRE AND WERE communities in and around bon temps, louisianna are of vital interest. she's blood bound to the leader of the vamps, is a friend to the local were pack and works for a man who is a shifter and has a brother who is a were panther.
but for most of the humans in bon temps the vamps are mysterious seductive creatures and they don't even know about the weres.
until now.the weres and the shifters have finally decided to follow the lead of the unded and reveal their existence of the ordinary world.
at first it seems to go well. then the mutilated body of a werepanther is found in the parking lot of the bar where sookie works. the vicitm is someone she knows so she feels completted to discover who human or other wise did the deed.
1. this book feels like a "bridge" as it sets up a whole bunch of story lines but gives no answers.
2. there is a murder and poor jason is a suspect for all of 10 seconds. amazing every time a murder happens they always look at poor jason.
3. we move forward with eric and sookie. SLOWLY. it's enough to make you scream "i want more!"
it's a very good book, my only complaint: TOO SHORT.............I WANT MORE!Read full review

Another Great Read From Charlaine Harris
I have missed my favorite fellow blonde. I had not read any Sookie Stackhouse books in while but I'm making up for lost time. Sookie is the epitome of the dumb blonde who's not so dumb. Poor thing gets mauled and nearly killed n every book, but three times.. that's a little too much. I'm glad to see that she and Eric are still in a relationship but I kind of miss Bill. It seems as though their relationship might be heating up again. It was an enjoyable read and looking forward to the next one.

I bought it for my girlfriend. She loves the series, and we both love the HBO series. She has now read all the books and loves them.

I can't get enough of this series.
When I read this I was so anxious because I wanted to know what was going to happen. But, at the same time I don't want the adventure to end. I love this series. It's so hard to put down
