Great wrap-up to the "oh-so-short" series. They should have never cancelled it!

Super and Blu-ray makes great, fantastic
I seldom watch TV but I do watch movies and series shows I enjoy, on DVD and Blu-ray. How I missed the entire "Firefly series" when it originally aired is not surprising, but when I was introduced to it I fell in love with the show and immediately bought my own set of DVD's of the series, but any respectable fan of "Firefly" know's that is incomplete without the final full feature movie "Serenity" that helps give some closure to the series. A Star Trek fan since the beginning and Star Wars fan as with all sic-fi genre, Josh Whedon's verse with Firefly is a great down to Earth (pardon the pun) that is more gritty and honest as its possible to be yet a human interaction story, no strange aliens here. "Serneity" stands alone very well on its own but I would still recommend getting the entire series as well.Read full review

Not much different from the DVD's quality.
I bought this title to try out my first Blu-ray player, a Panasonic DMP-BD601. I already had Serenity on DVD and had watched it on my Sony 1080p upscaling DVD player. I viewed both in the Blu-ray player attatched to a Vizio 42" 1080P HDTV. Audio is provided by a Sony Home Theater Receiver STR DE485. I could not detect any dramatic difference in either audio or video quality. Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie to begin with and Dolby 5.1 audio is impressive in it's own right. This title is essentially the same quality on Blu-ray and DVD. Apparently, when a title is reproduced on Blu-ray from DVD, the only difference is the media. I have yet to view a new release title on Blu-ray. I expect that there I will see a startling difference since it would have been produced for Blu-ray.

great movie, even better on bluray
the picture and sound track are just so clear and crisp compared to the dvd. with the right home audio set up it makes it seem like you are the camera watching it happen in real life. i watched the firefly series and loved it. the movie seemed to continue and clarify some things that the series didnt. i would recommend this movie to anybody who liked firefly, but if you never watched the series the movie wont confuse you. turns out to be a great scifi action movie on its own.

A classic among sci-fi cult films!
Love DVDs over the VHS tapes. The add'l features such as the "Deleted Scenes", "Extended Scenes", and commentaries give added depth to movies. I'm always amazed at what ends up on the cutting room floor for film "Ratings", "Playing time", "Editors vision" and "The Budget" for the film. After seeing what was left on the cutting room floor this movie could have been better and done better in the theaters. I've debated on buying this; but, after seeing this dvd at a friends with all the bonus features, I bought it for myself. The film depicts one possible future for mankind. Above all it's entertaining for all.
