Simply very good acting. A must have for movie fans
Damon, Norton, and John Malkovich in this are superb and highly believable. One bad kid, one kid trying to stay on the right side of the law, and a sinister card shark, who trys to give these guys a lesson they will never forget.
The scenes and acting are believable as Damon try's to pay his way through law school, by winning at cards. He's good enough at the game, not to cheat, but his friend, played by Edward Norton isn't and it climaxes into a showdown between Damon and Malkovich. Great movie, with a true to life feel. Great for the "Fall" season, as it has a "back to school" feel. But just great any time.

R O U N D E R S (DVD, 2004)
This is an entertaining film about card sharking and strategy at the poker table. The experience of the odds of what will happen in any particular situation, and the personal habits of the players, their "Tell" and how to spot it and use it to win. Matt Damon is Mike McDermott. He is a law srudent who really is half-heartedly interested in the law. His girlfriend is a super achiever law student. Mike's true passion is POKER! He has a totally analytical mind and a natural ability honed from years of reading people and their expressions as the cards are dealt. He can usually tell what you have in your hand by your reactions. He is good at what he does. His best friend, Worm (Ed Norton), is in jail and just fixing to get out. Mike feels like he owes Worm, because he didn't rat on him when he got busted. Mike is highly intelligent, but in the case of Worm, intelligent don't mean smart. Mike got cleaned out in a game with KGB, a Russian card room operator. Since then he has played it straight, no poker, just college and the law. He picks Worm up at the prison, and immediately is sucked in by him and playing cards again. Worm is appropriately named; he is a cheat, a real human zero, but Mike won't cut him loose. Instead he vouches for Worm and winds up $15K in debt to KGB for it, and now has 48-hours to pay up or possibly be killed. After several attempts to raise that much cash, Worm gets caught cheating and they lose all of the winnings plus get their asses kicked. Finally seeing the truth about Worm, in a last ditch attempt, Mike borrows $10K from a professor friend who sees something in him, and wants him to have a chance to get out. He goes to KGB's place and challenges KGB to a game. KGB holds his debt, which is due in the morning, but for now the game is on. The card playing is slick, and the strategy is intense. Mike takes him; takes him bad, and clears himself with KGB. He wins enough not only to pay off his debt to KGB and the professor, but enough left over for a trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Slam tournament. Top prize is $1M. This is a fun movie that you will enjoy watching time and again. If you are ever tempted to sit down at a poker table with strangers, this is a good movie to remember.Read full review

Go "ALL IN" - With Rounders!!
Gives you an idea what you go through as a high stakes poker player. The Highs, the lows, the relationships that you make in this game is always at risk. Matt Damon is SOLID in this role as Mike. He gives up gambling for law school after LOSING his bank role in a high stakes poker game. Ed Norton is an absolute LOOSE CANNON!! Norton really shines in his role as WORM. VERY brilliant actor I may add. He steals the show in this movie with his character. John Malkovich is AWESOME as Teddy KGB!! a RUTHLESS card shark - VERY convincing. John Turturro and Martin Landau have GREAT roles also and round out this terrific poker movie.
If your a card player you can relate to this film on all levels. VERY well done.
Personal Rating: "A MUST HAVE!!"
Belongs in EVERY Players Collection!!Read full review

BEST POKER MOVIE EVER
Anyone who plays cards should own this movie. Matt Damon and Edward Norton do an amazing job in the role of two rounders jumping from game to game trying to pay back Nortons (Worm) debet he racked up while doing time. "Grand-ma", a partner with KGB pushes these two card sharks to pay the 15K owned in just a few days. While Matt is raking in the cash, norton is working his profected base dealing, which gets both caught in a game with some off duty law enforcement. After getting the beating of a life time, Damon presuades a well off professor to lend him 10K to buy them some time. Damon, instead of paying the debet down, stacks up with KGB for a second time to gain his pride back.
get out the lays and cold beer .... ITS GREAT !
