The adventure we know and love with a boatload of fun extras!
The adventure we know and love with so many fun extras you'll feel like part of the crew!
We're slowly upgrading our video collection to DVDs or our favorite films, and when I saw all the goodies including in this set, I jumped at the deal. There are deleted scenes, outtakes, set diaries, production art, I was watching past sunrise!
A must for fans of the stars and the POTC series!

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
This is one of the best live-action Disney movies I have EVER seen! In the tradition of sword-slinging, gun-toting, cannon-blasting pirates with humour that you wouldn't necessarily expect, this movie brings the ever popular ride from both Disneyland and Walt Disney World to life in the most exciting way!

Johnny Depp: A Favorite Pirate for All
Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), is not y/our typical Errol Flynn type of machismo swashbuckling pirate; nor does he play another Disney Captain Hook. He's more like Fagan in "Oliver." And he's ever so fey. That's his charm.
Though the pirates on the "Black Pearl" ship are dead and sometimes in their skeleton form, they aren't scary enough for kids, since this is a comedy.
The story line goes like this: A governor's daughter is in charge of a young boy her own age who has been pulled out of the sea by her father's upper-crusty crew. She notices his necklace is a pirate's one and takes it from him so that he won't be hung to death.
But, the gold medallion is the last one of a pirate's treasure that has cursed all of the crew of the "Black Pearl" ship. Without its return with the blood of the boy on it, the skeletal crew remains dead, unable to feel any life in themselves, and are not killable since they are already dead!
Captain Jack Sparrow (Depp), though a bumbling comical pirate who is after the ownership of the "Black Pearl," a ship the cursed crew stole from him, plays a marvelously non-machismo, loveable, pirate character who is the super glue that holds all of the loose ends of the film together. Depp gives one of his cutest performances I've seen and is now my favorite pirate! The script ain't bad either.Read full review

Big bang for the buck!
One of the best pirate movies made. The humor is great, the stars in the film "sink" into each other, and are very enjoyable to watch. Had this on VHS, but needed to add to DVD series. Don't stop with this one, get Dead Man's Chest, At World End, and On Stranger Tides. All very good.
