Perfect Dark Zero (Microsoft Xbox 360, 2005) - European Version
About this product
|Joanna Dark, that Rare heroine who raised the bar for console shooters with her near-perfect 2000 debut on Nintendo 64, returns to her past with new purpose (and on a new platform), in this 2005 launch title for the Xbox 360. As the title implies, this game is a prequel to the N64 game, set before the original's twisted story of corporate conspiracy. Gamers are challenged to guide Joanna through training as a rookie operative, and help her earn the "perfect" test scores that inspired her ominous nickname.|
The earlier setting should not imply that all has been said and done, however; while the game's storyline may answer old questions about Joanna and her background, it also poses plenty of new questions of its own. In addition to its story-driven single-player mode, as Xbox aficionados and fans of the series might expect, Perfect Dark Zero features a variety of cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes, including split-screen shooting for up to four, and online action through the Xbox Live subscription service, capable of hosting more than 50 human players in a single map.

If this tells you anything, this is the game we are using at work to demo the 360. (I work at EB Game, BTW.) The graphics are excellent. The controls are super easy. Funny thing is that there are even arrows to show you where to go next. Most of our customers (especially the teenage guys) will spend hours playing this game in store. I want to go to work now so maybe I'll have time to play it some more!

Perfect Dark Zero is perfect again.Memories of the n64 perfect dark are great but that was nothing in comparision with the xbox 360 Perfect Dark.Like most of the Xbox 360 game the online is fantastic. The one player game will have you playing for some time and the action never stops.

RARE has always been so good. Why would they turn a classic like Perfect Dark into a cookie cutter shooter? It's not that the game doesn't have nice graphics or that the story isn't involving. It's not even the multiplayer. It's the shooting. Unless you can land a headshot every single time you will probably spend several shots on each enemy because it seems they all wear bullet proof clothing from head to toe. Taking cover is a cool concept when incorporated correctly but when an enemy can easily run up and melee you taking cover is worthless and pointless. There is no jump button. Instead there is a roll feature which can be frustrating to use since you cannot fire while rolling. The rest of the conrols are ok but don't expect smooth controls. Multiplayer can be fun but you will mostly be fighting against bots. It is also easy to get stuck in a match that is neverending and all of your play time would be worthless in the rankings system. This needs to be fixed. The respawn portals are a great idea though and jetpacks are also a lot of fun to mess around in. I don't recommend buying unless you are a hardcore fan but it may be worth the rental to see if you like it. 3.5/5Read full review
