Good but, better if hacked. Abandoned; so understand what your getting into
It is a very VERY competent PDA, as expected from Palm, the king of PDAs. The OS is slick and useful and in some places is ahead of both iOS and Android. But Don't get too excited. WebOS is pretty much dead and although there is a tiny tiny flicker of hope for revival since it keeps being bought and revived by different companies don't expect this model to ever get another major update. The Web Browser is very competent (WebKit-based) but is outdated and unlikely to ever get updated so while you can surf the web with a reasonable amount of confidence don't be surprised if a site hangs or fails to load. 8GBs of storage is plenty for a mostly work for like this. Given the mostly dead nature of the OS, you'll probably end up using the storage like I do: holding a about 10 albums and a few podcasts. I would strongly recommend looking into PreWare hacks (super easy and was practically endorsed by Palm for a long while) There is an app in the store explaining how to do it in plain English and with pictures. It will be the best dollar you spend in the WebOS App Store. PreWare is essentially a collection of patches and homebrew apps that the community has created to make the experience more tolerable as time passes and the phone never gets updated.Read full review

Strong system in WebOS, Great battery life, Great used prices, just old
Great phone with great features. Screen is tiny compared to other smartphones on the market today. Doesn't have a virtual keyboard, but one can be downloaded. The community for WebOS is pretty large eventhough they don't make the phones anymore, HP recently released the source code so everyone can improve things they feel need it. Battery will last 2-3x longer than other smartphones (meaning 2-3 days, since most phones have trouble making it 24 hours now), this is with just as frequent use as with other phones. If you need a good starter smart phone on Sprint's network, look on here for these going for about $50. Can't be beat. These will outlast LG's and Motorola's.

Great value - easily replaces a Feature Phone - good voice quality.
I bought this phone to replace a crappy device I didn't like. The voice quality just wasn't there on the old device. Voice quality, features and ease of use of the Palm Pre is awesome. I wanted this phone when it was first released, but when other smart phones surpassed this, I went with an Android. However I still loved the WebOS of the Pre. So when I had the need to replace my work phone this is what I got and I'm very happy. Is it perfect? It is for what I need and expected from the phone. It's not the phone for everyone though and I know that. I can also see why this phone wasn't well received back when it was new. It should have been a 4" phone, virtual keyboard, dual camera and SD slot. Those would have put it head-to-head with something like the Galaxy and EVO 4G and may have given Palm and WebOS a chance. I'm still very happy with my purchase. If you need a little more than a feature phone, but less than a "smart" phone - the Pre is a very good fit, with good features and great voice quality. BTW - Sprint ROCKS!!!Read full review

Great OS but the actual phone has too many issues to compete with other OSs
The Palm Pre has one of the best, if not the best, Operating Systems for a smart phone. It is easy to use and is intuitive with its gestures. Another great feature is its multitasking ability with its card system. Where the Palm Pre falls short is the build quality of the actually phone. The sliding mechanism for the keyboard has the "oreo" effect when its closed. The phone is encased with plastic making it feel cheap and scratches easily. Other areas where the Palm Pre can't match the competition are; screen size, app selection, and no onscreen keyboard. These short comings ultimately lead to the demise of Palm when HP bought them out.

not perfect, still a great phone!
This a great phone overall, very vivid colors on the screen and and app store of its own. Super easy to text and send pics. Internet is a bit slow compared to apple devices but once you hook up to wi'fi its great. Pros: cheap, vivid screen, easy text and pic mail, easy to use, very stylish design, touch screen, full key board, gps works great. You can run many apps at once. in between: no touch screen keybord but u can literally buy one form the app store for 1$, I never use it thought. No spell check but the epic does have it either. Cons: not as fast as apple (ex:ipod touch and iphone), apps not as great as apples, very quiet ringer (even when at high...when comparing to blackberry. When you add your email it adds ALL your contacts from the email (just remove the email if its a problem)Read full review
