I love it, it's never off of my body now!
It's an amazing lens. I was debating between the newer 24-70 and this. I decided with this one and i'm very happy.

Good product for money for pro use
This lens is a heavy pro lens. If you want a lens to carry around your neck for vacation photos don't get this lens, but if your pro, or semi pro this is an excellent lens. It's just as sharp as the newer 24-70 except half the price. Most models have an af squeak however most sellers don't put that in the description. Most of the time this isn't a problem but sometimes the af motor will fail and you will need to get the af motor replaced. Make sure if you live in the USA to buy a USA serial numbered lens because nikon USA won't work on lenses with serial numbers of other country or origins.

F*cking buy it!!
Absolutely superb lens. If you cannot afford a 24-70 f/2.8 and want something a little nicer than a Sigma variant, this what you need to buy. Tough, solid, and very fluid. The 28-70 has become a cornerstone in my photography.

Heavy, sharp, beautiful color rendition & bokeh, simply an excellent beast
Wonderful lens, super sharp and makes beautiful pictures. Some prefer this over the newer version of this lens 24-70mm f/2.8 with nano crystal coasting, and I'm not too surprised to hear that. It's a fantastic lens and it's great for landscape to portrait. Super versatile heavy monster is this lens.

You won't be disappointed; buy it and never look back.
Considering the cost of this lens, I borrowed one to try. I shoot with a D600 which I recently acquired, as well.
I've had lots of Nikkor lenses over the years, and recently traded away my D7000 and 17-55mm DX lens, so I was looking for that kind of precision and sharpness. Needless to say, I couldn't be more pleased with the 28-70. So fast, so sharp, the images are pin sharp at all FLs and so precise. The AF mechanism is spot on and it's just a joy to shoot.
It is heavy, no doubt about it, but that also works for you as it greatly stabilizes the lens even when shooting at lower speeds. Its f2.8 aperture allows for excellent low level shots at higher ISOs and really performs.
For a midrange zoom, I don't think you can beat it, and at the current used market, it's a real bargain. It's a true pro lens, lots of metal and little plastic. Hard to find anything like it in the same price range. It's a lens you can shoot for years and still love it. 5 stars from me.Read full review
