About this product
- Product InformationEA's NHL series marks its sixth appearance on Xbox 360 with an enhanced "Be a Pro" mode, more dynamic goalies, and a retooled physics engine that increases the level of interactivity on the ice. The "Be a Pro" mode once again has you following the career of a created athlete, where you'll attempt to earn more playing time by performing well during your assigned shifts. You can now simulate each game up to the point when you're on the ice for less downtime. As you progress in this mode, you'll have the chance to break all-time records and become one of the sport's legends.
The new physics system incorporates broken glass, flying helmets, players being knocked over the boards and into benches, pushing the net off target, and sending bodies in the air with high-speed collisions. The goalies will work harder to block the puck and even engage in fights when tempers flare. Also new is the inclusion of the 2011 NHL Winter Classic at Heinz Field, where you'll be able to skate outdoors under the glow of stadium lights. Rounding out the list of new features are improved online communities and the ability to create an ultimate hockey team of past and present greats.

Fun and realistic ice hockey game play!
My 7 year old son recently took an interest in the sport of hockey and started playing ice hockey, too. I got this game for him and he loves it! He can pick the teams and every game is a new challenge. EA Sports has done an incredible job at recreating the hockey experience in a video game.

Great game but PROBABLY not worth the $60+ tax you pay every year.
NHL 12 : The ultimate hockey game in the video game market. If you haven't played any of the recent hockey games from EA, you're in for quite a shock. There are a ton of features to master and it will be a hard go. However, if you're a seasoned veteran to the franchise, it's all status quo. EA releases new titles of the franchise with very small changes that are sometimes unnoticeable. The game is good in its own right; but compare it to NHL 11 and you're looking at a very similar title. Pros -Graphics -Depth of game -Addictiveness of online play Cons -Nothing new -Difficult control scheme to master if new 8.5/10 GiffenReviews

INTENSE, REALISTIC, FUN HOCKEY PLAY!
I was new to EA's NHL series for 2011 version. Just sold NHL 11 to pick up this game. I'm not even a huge NHL fan, but a huge fan of this game. What's not to like about hard hitting realistic checks, slap shots, one-timers & break away dieke moves. Wrapped up with fights (including goalies) & skilled shots. If you're hesistant in purchasing this game, don't be. The online multiplayer matchmaking has improved dramaticaly. The depth of the game goes beyond online play. Franchise, create a player and new NHL features for the die hard fan have been added. Instant replay is improved from NHL 11 & so has the goalie play. No more unrealistic, un-human saves. I'm a gamer from the Blades of Steel hockey version on the original Nintendo & can appreciate a great game. NHL 11 is a winner. Only downside is it does require patience in learning how to score. If you're new to the series practice your dieke moves & one-timers before playing online or those guys will destroy you. The defensive aspect with checking, poke checks & blocks shots is fun too. There's nothing more rewarding than a shutout! You'll enjoy this game---(if you're new to EA's NHL series....practice first, I almost sold NHL10 after buying it because I was so horrible online. I'm glad I didn't and now am a true fan of this game and series. EA has me locked in for years to come.) ENJOY Read full review

Simply put: It is the closest thing yet to actually being on the ice...
I bought this game the day it came out as I do every year since NHL 95 so you could say I'm a bit of a die-hard fan of the NHL series. This installment is hands down the best yet. From the moment you hit the ice it just "feels" better. I am an avid Ice Hockey player so I know that you cannot go up and down the ice twirling and stopping on a a dime (unless you are Pavel Datsyuk)without paying a price. That is where this game delivers: It plays in such a way that forces you to re-think strategies used in previous years. You have to actually think like a hockey player. If that isn't reason enough to pick this one up then I don't know what is. Check out my ebay store: http://stores.ebay.com/snottyshirts
