Music of the Heart
This movie, based on real life events, highlights the struggles of one woman to continue to include the arts, specifically music, in the public educational life of students. The movie is well-acted, and also enlists a wonderful cast of real-life musical superstars who join in solidarity to prove the arts' worth as a subject of study for all children. Our society seems to go in cycles: first the arts are "in", then "out"; meanwhile students are not always treated as whole human beings when the arts are in question. This movie is a reminder of the essential value of arts education, and is inspirational for those of us whose lives are dedicated to arts education.

This movie is based on the true story of a young violin teacher in Harlem. Using the beauty of music, she teaches her class that they can be and do whatever they dream to be - if they're willing to put in the hard work to accomplish it.
The film spans several years and shows her struggles with not only the parents, but with the board of education as well, who at one point vote to shut her class down due to budget constraints. Ultimately - if not predictably - (why else would there be a movie?) - she triumphs over all obstacles and her class takes the stage in Carnegie Hall for their major recital.
It's a good story with a decent cast. I bought this movie as a gift to a friend who is a big Meryl Streep fan. She does some of her best work here.

wonderful heart fill movie
Clean movie with POSITIVE FAMILY VALUES!!! Viewed this movie 5 times since receiving it !!This movie also shows how students and parents regardless of income can come together. The students produce great music while incorporating a sense of accomplishment and self esteme for the students whom had little reason to attend school or any after school activity. There should be more clean movies like this. 5STARS

Music teaches love!
This is a very good family movie. It doesn't teach the children that everything or everyone is violent nor use profanity. It gives the children something to work towards and a dream. It also teaches everyone to be honest. Real friends will be there with you, whether they are family,co-workers or peers.
