About this product
- Product InformationRockstar's Midnight Club racing series makes its first appearance on next-gen consoles after a three-year hiatus. Instead of solely focusing on the nighttime racing scene, Midnight Club features a 24-hour day-night cycle set in densely populated Los Angeles. Powered by the same graphics engine used in Grand Theft Auto IV, the title offers arcade-style racing from either a behind-the-car perspective or a dashboard viewpoint with working dials and animated steering wheels. There are no longer menu screens to navigate or linear missions to follow. The entire city is available to explore from the start, so players are free to travel wherever they want, looking for opponents to challenge in races designed to test their driving prowess. Up to four players can compete simultaneously online via Xbox Live.
Reputation points earned from races can be traded in for new vehicles, performance parts, and special race invitations. The digital version of Los Angeles is the largest city featured in a Midnight Club game to date. Spanning an area larger than all three cities combined in 2005's version, Midnight Club: Los Angeles has players switching between an aerial perspective to plan routes and a street level view to prowl for potential events. Initiating races involves flashing the vehicle's lights to signal an opponent and then driving to a designated start point. Any damage received while driving or racing can be repaired at various garages. Multiple vehicle types are available from different eras and include motorcycles. Midnight Club: Los Angeles also features a licensed soundtrack by popular recording artists.
The "Complete Edition" includes all previously released updates and the "South Central Expansion" content add-on pack.

This is the best of what gaming has to offer on every level!
This is a rare excellent game. Brought back to glory! Even as a 360 reissue it is not easy to find new sealed. This game has all of the good that you find in the later and more current totally obscene, vulgar, profane "wheeler" games that disrespect women, human life, and really any semblance of fun. I don't need to name these crass games you know what they are. If you want to be a "pimp" and steal cars, kill recklessly, beat women, all to a lousy gangsta rap track then buy some ore gold teeth and ignore this game you'll hate it.
But - if you want a real test of skill, real fun, great graphics,a throwback feel without being "dated" then this is your game. The LOS ANGELES version of the Midnight Club Series is the crown jewel of the series. Also since Microsoft repackaged it as a "platinum hit" it comes "complete" there are no additional maps or levels to keep shelling out money for. Also, do some research and you will find most of the "cheats" on record still work and some new ones are embedded in this edition. Nothing crazy but fun. My only regret is that in repackaging Microsoft has missed adding the best thing it could have a multi player online option. This is a frustration with most of their platinum hits series but online gaming was not what is now when these games came out so...although it is a single player game - always has been always will be - the game is worth every penny you'd pay for any of the newest rehashes of the classics that are out there now....I mean really how many nazi zombies can you keep killing online with your "friends" before it is stale? You can pop this game in any time and depending your dexterity that day have a totally new experience every time you play.
NOTE TO PARENTS. The ratings systems much like in the movies has changed over time. Much more is acceptable now. This game is TEEN rated but it is like a PG movie - I am not endorsing all the language I hear nor all the situations but I am minister and I can say that I find very - very little even questionable in the content. Get your kids to disconnect from XBOX LIVE and challenge themselves with a real game. This is blast and has and will stand the test of time.Read full review

Awesome game, feels like im flying!
I love the Midnight Club series of games and this one does not disappoint. Great game if you love racing games. Cool city layout and a wide variety of race types and lengths. Really nice cars that are not impossible to afford. It could get tough at times though, if you like a challenge.

One of the best racers available right now.
I agree with most of the other reviews that say how the game can be difficult at times. The races are color coded to reflect just how difficult they will be. Green being the easiest and red being the hardest. And for the most part it is accurate. Red races and even orange races are hard just as they were intended to be and after the patch I actually think the green races are too easy but they are still fun and for people who are not great at racing I think it was a smart decision to make it more accessable from the start. So expect easy to be easy and hard to be hard and most of the time you will have to retry the hard races repeatedly to win and they will test your patients.
For me the most important thing in a racing game is how the car handles and in MC:LA they nail it. The cars grip the road and have excellent handling characteristics. The interior view is second to none and really gives you the feeling of driving the car. I like how when you use the brake to slingshot you from the start of a race you really get a sense of the horsepower flowing through the drivetrain as the car lurches forward and you get that slight edge on the compitition.
The graphics and sound are excellent and the game keeps a solid framerate even when going 200 mph. There is some occasional pop up and some rare instances of texture loading but overall it is a great looking game. Although it doesn't look completly realistic I like that the devs decided to use a bright color palette and it reminds me of the style seen in need for speed underground. I also like that there is a night and day time cycle which helps keep the visuals varied and it even affects the racing depending on whether it is daytime, dusk or night. There is also rain that effects the handling of the cars.
Unlike alot of racers out now MC:LA's environment feels alive with people and cars filling the city with life. There are also police cars patrolling the city and they will chase you down for driving recklessly through crowds of people or for speeding through the city. If you can escape them you recieve reputation points but if you are caught expect a hefty fine. Its alot like the police chases from need for speed most wanted and although they can be annoying if you are trying to get to a race or chase down a rival, it generally adds alot of fun and excitement to the game. I also like how many hidden shortcuts there are and it keeps you focused and alert for any paths that may help you win or escape the police.
The game has a leveling system that keeps you pushing forward to unlock better parts and more races and it works well. The amont of customization you can do is great and you will spend alot of time making your cars more powerful, handle better and look awesome. Earning cash to make all these upgrades doesn't come easy and losing it to the cops really makes you want to avoid getting caught. You can also win cars in certain races.
There are also "powers" you can use in the game, like slowing time or one called "roar" that moves traffic out of the way and although these "powers" that are available for your cars/driver are a bit over the top they are fun to use and are helpful winning tougher races. If you like racing games than your going to like this game. I saw one persons review say "all you do is race cars" huh!? This is not GTA or Saints Row its a racing game and its one of the best out right now. I give it a 9 out of 10.Read full review
