Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (Sony PlayStation 2, 2004)
About this product
|Hideo Kojima's critically acclaimed "tactical espionage action" series returns to PlayStation 2 in the anticipated follow-up to 2001's Sons of Liberty. Instead of slinking around futuristic installations, knocking on metal to distract guards, or crawling underneath a cardboard box, players are given a whole new Snake to wrangle. Drawing its inspiration from films like First Blood and Rambo: First Blood Part II, Snake Eater drops players in the middle of a thick jungle teeming with wildlife and, of course, terrorists. Heavily armed enemies dressed in camouflage gear will patrol the dense forests, waterfalls, and surrounding areas, so players will be able to climb trees, fire pistols while hanging down from branches, and crawl through hollowed out logs to stalk their prey. Along the way, Snake will have to find sustenance by catching fish or other wildlife, while being mindful of natural hazards such hornets nests, cliffs, and rapids. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was first revealed in a 12-minute preview displayed at 2003's E3 in Los Angeles, California.|

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
I am a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid saga. The newest entry in series is by far the best of them which is saying a lot considering the last two. The game takes place in the jungles of the Soviet Union during the height of the Cold War almost 40 years before the first Metal Gear for the NES. The game revolves around a CIA operative named Jack, codenamed Naked Snake during the missions, who must go into the Soviet Union and rescue a scientist who is trying to defect. This entry in the series marks the first one that isn't all about sneaking around corridors. Since the whole game takes place in the jungle, survival is a large portion of the game play and a new healing system was implemented just because of that. You now have to bandage, suture, and splint all of your own wounds in the game as well as eat to survive. It also incorporates a new stealth system: camouflage. Based on what is around you in the environment you have to wear the proper clothing and face paint to keep yourself well hidden. A new combat system was introduced as well. A close quarters combat system which in the game is fittingly called CQC finally makes hand-to-hand combat a viable option in a Metal Gear Solid game. Consisting of throws, throat-slitting, and using people as human shields, CQC includes some of the most gratifying things you can do to an enemy in a game. This is an overall amazing game from the story to the action to the graphics; there are almost no parts of this game that are not perfect.
-Incredible story and cast of characters.
-Intense action and stealth sequences.
-Amazing graphics and sound.
-New survival elements.
-1960s jungle setting.
-The camera controls.
-Pushing way too many buttons at once.

BEST IN SERIES!
its a very good game in every manner. it has a good camouflage system and it gives an art in the game to hide yourself. the sonar and the radar is a problem but still it just adds fun to the game.the stamina and all might be hard to maintain for newbies but the fun that you get from the way he eats animals is worth it. the game is realistic as you have to heal like real life. the radio is a good thing also. the best part of the game is when "snake's" eye gets shot by "ocelot" and after that when you go in first person mode the left side is blackened it makes it feel real.the cqc is a good addition to this game also. only problem about this game is that to shoot you have to move to first person mode and when in this mode you cant move while in splinter cell has fixed this problem.i was not a mgs fan but after i finished this game i played the 2nd mgs which proved this is the best in the mgs seriesRead full review
