Mega Man 5
Mega Man 5 is the fifth installment of the highly successful Mega Man series for play on the Nintendo NES. In this game, you play the role of Mega Man, and you must fight your way through 8 different stages to defeat 8 different Robot Masters that have been programmed for evil by the mad scientist Dr. Wily. After defeating the 8 Robot Masters, you must fight through even more stages at Dr. Wily's lair, and eventually fight Dr. Wily himself to finish the game. Overall this is an extremely strong title by Capcom, and like the other 5 Mega Man games for NES, this title will not disapoint. Pick up a copy, you wont regret it.

Megaman 5 works way good!
In Megaman 5, Protoman was framed for Dr. Wily's crimes with his Darkman robot. The stories to Megman games were never really that interesting. It was all about the gameplay. Megaman 5 featured many new features from Megaman 4. Like Megaman 4, he still has charging abilities and newer features that are stage specific. In Gravityman's stage, you get to walk on the ceiling, in Starman's stage, you can jump very high, in Waveman's stage, you get to ride a jetski in the water, in Stoneman's stage, you can blow up terrain to find new passage ways to get secrets, in Chargeman's stage, you ride on a train with moving backgrounds, and in Crystalman, Gyroman, and Napalmman's stages didn't really have anything special, just fun to run through. After defeating the 8 master robots, you get to enter Protoman's castle where you battle 4 different Darkman robots in each of the stages you play through. After making it to the last Darkman robot, the real Protoman appears, gives you a full tank of energy then leaves you to battle against the final Darkman robot which has the powers of the original 3 Darkman robots you fought. In Dr. Wily's castle, you play through more challenging stages and fight larger bosses. Like in previous Megaman games, with the exception of Megman 1, you enter the boss room where you select which boss to fight and defeat all 8 master robots a second time. After defeating all 8 master robots, you face Dr. Wily. The ending to the game says that there will be a #6.

Gameplay - 10/10 (I obsess over Megaman games)
Sound - 10/10 (it was the best available from the time without the extend sound chip)
Graphics - 10/10 (like I said, it was the best at the time)
Control - 10/10 (in my opinion, the NES controller is still the best there is)
Story - ?/10 (who cares, it's too fun of a game to care about the story)

Second opinion - if you like 8-bit games, add this game to your collection. I started with Megaman 3 and built my collection from there. Megaman 5 was the last in my collection just because I could never find it. If you want to play Megaman 5, don't buy the 'Megaman Anniversary Collection' disc, it's not the same. You want to play Megaman, you HAVE to play it on the old Nintendo system.Read full review

Intense retro fun! Keeps you playing your nes toaster for 20 more years!
If you enjoy any mega man, this is the one you have to own. It's intense game play and strategic levels will keep your mind occupied for hours on end. Keep blasting away Dr. Willy's robotic goons and continue the legacy today with Mega Man 5.

Great game in the series. Must have for collectors.
I bought this because I am a collector.

I like all megaman games...at least the ones for NES and SNES. I have no dislikes about this game other than the fact that it is very difficult on some levels.

This game is like the others on NES...graphics not improved that much. It just has a different story line and different bosses. But its still a good game.
