Limited quantities of the CD are embedded with a brief documentary film about the album.Audio Remasterers: Sean Magee; Sam O'Kell; Steve Rooke; Guy Massey; Paul Hicks.Liner Note Authors: Mike Heatley; Kevin Howlett.Recording information: 04/25/1967-11/07/1967.The U.S. version of the soundtrack for the Beatles' ill-fated British television special embellished the six songs that were found on the British Magical Mystery Tour double EP with five other cuts from their 1967 singles. (The CD version of the record has now been standardized worldwide as the 11 tracks found on the American version.) The psychedelic sound is very much in the vein of Sgt. Pepper's, and even spacier in parts (especially the sound collages of "I Am the Walrus"). Unlike Sgt. Pepper's, there's no vague overall conceptual/thematic unity to the material, which has made Magical Mystery Tour suffer slightly in comparison. Still, the music is mostly great, and "Penny Lane," "Strawberry Fields Forever," "All You Need Is Love," and "Hello Goodbye" were all huge, glorious, and innovative singles. The ballad "The Fool on the Hill," though only a part of the Magical Mystery Tour soundtrack, is also one of the most popular Beatles tunes from the era. It's hard to Believe that The Beatles actually STOPPED touring while their oldest member (Ringo Starr) was still only 26 years old! So, the band hit the Abbey Roads studios in the coming months to record two albums that would stun the musical world. Magical Mystery Tour is the 2nd of those two albums (Sgt. Pepper, of course, being the 1st). No one can actually have an insight to the psychedelic late 60s without having this album in their collection. What a colorful time it was!

YES-It Is Indeed Magical
Some of the music I listened to as a kid has not withstood the test of time I will admit....
Magical Mystery Tour is a clear exception to the rule. Remsatered version just adds to the listening experience. It is worth a few extra bucks to purchase the newer CD to hear things you may have never hears before. With more detail, greater depth and clarity! Enjoy the music!

Don't overlook this hits packed gem!
This often overlooked Beatles release features 11 tracks in all but is chock full of hits. Includes such classic smash Beatles tracks as "The Fool On The Hill", "Your Mother Should Know", "I Am The Walrus", "Strawberry Fields Forever", "Penny Lane" and the title track "Magical Mystery Tour". This remastered, digipak features features new photos and liner notes, and the Cd also features a Mini-Documentary playable on your computer. While most fans have HELP and HARD DAY'S NIGHT in their collection, for some reason MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR doesn't get the same homage it seems. Don't make the same mistake! If you're a true Beatles fan like myself, then be sure to add MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR to your Cd collection, you won't be disappointed. I give it a hardy 5 out of 5 stars. Cheers, longliveneil
