Stellar looks mediocre performance
Since the LG VX9400 came out in mid 2007 I've always wanted one. I even switched cell carriers to get one, only to find out it was no longer offered. Then watching the first IRON MAN movie when they showed it just fueled my fire. I have been using the VX9400 for one month now and I am no longer impressed. Despite its bold good looks, having the directional pad BELOW the keypad is cumbersome to use. And having to swing it open to use keypad when on a call to put in passwords or anything, makes it difficult to hear out of. I enjoy the simplicity of LG's menu. I like the VCAST TV and music features. The web browsing is just as good as any non-smartphone (which means not worth having). Overall its a OK phone that seams well built, durable, looks good but takes lots of practice to get used to texting on it (I still haven't). You can now understand some of my disappointment in it. I am glad I bought it but would not buy it again. Read full review

Doesn't quite replace my old Chocolate as expected.
I purchased this phone because I dropped and broke my LG VX8550 Chocolate. I was not a huge fan of that phone, but I used it with Bluetooth headphones as my music player for the gym and wanted a phone that would offer similar features of the 8550 without some of the unwanted features. The 8550 had touch sensitive buttons that began to become ineffective over time. I looked to this phone because the touch sensitive buttons were for the music player only and not basic functions like text messaging. I had hoped this would be better on the 8600 and it is. The buttons (numbers, etc.) on the 8660 are really smooth, almost flat, something I am not used to. It makes dialing a bit odd, you don't feel the separation of the buttons. Maybe I will get used to this with time. The biggest disappointment of the phone is the music player. The 8550 could play music and do any function with music playing in the background. You could text, adjust settings, even make a call (the music pauses and resumes when done) and the phone wouldn't skip a beat. From what I have seen so far with the 8600, you cannot use the phone without stopping the music. Once you navigate away from the music player menu the music stops. I am not sure if there is a way to change this, but I cannot see why you would want this feature at all, so I can't see there being another option. If there was another option, the phone would surely have it set as a default, or the previous owner would have set it, so I assume it's just the way it is. The phone works as a phone just fine, it just lacks the seamless playability of the 8550. The 8600 is a better phone, the 8550 was a better music player. Read full review

LG VX9400 Great Camera, User Friendly, FUN!
LG is always a smart move when purchasing a cell phone. It not only works well consistently, but never let me down. It has a nice camera with all the various features and the pics come out pretty good. It has zoom on both the camera and camcorder. The phone has a two way flip which makes it nice for texting and using the web or email. In landscape mode the keyboard changes at the press of a button. It has 3 different keyboards (actually one but it is backlit differently each time) alphabet, numeric, and signs. Has dedicated keys for games, camera, voice dailing, bluetooth, messaging and more. This is the fifth LG my family will have and the second of this exact phone. LG also makes great TV's.

I CAN Hear You Now!
This is the second lg vx8600 (chocolate flip) phone I've owned and one of my favorite features is the call clarity -- cause when you take away all the bells & whistles, the ability to make & receive calls clearly is a pretty important feature in a cell phone -- and this one has the best of any verizon phone I've tried. This phone is also sleek & stylish, has one of the best camera phones I've seen, and is loaded with features (bluetooth, web browsing, etc.) without having to pay the monthly upcharge for data plans that verizon has recently added to most phones with these capabilities. The cons - I miss having a keyboard and it doesn't have the options to customize the menu or touch screen features like some of the newer phones. But having a phone I can hear a call on, with a good battery life, and all the extra fun features I like -- plus the fact that it doesn't unlock itself & purse dial on speaker phone when bumped inside my bag (that can cause some embarassing explanations to your friends when it happens at inopportune moments - lol) -- make this my fav phone to date! If you are looking for a phone with good battery life, great call clarity, a nice quality camera and bluetooth / web capability the lg vx8600 is a terrific little phone! Read full review
