About this product
- DescriptionFor enhanced sound quality in a home theater or a two-channel stereo music system, the Klipsch RW-12D Powered Subwoofer delivers. Thanks to Corner Port Technology, the port tube is unusually long and straight, avoiding the turbulence that can cause noise and distortion. The result is an unusually deep bass from a relatively small cabinet. The digital user interface offers three user adjustable presets - movie, music, and night - and three equalization modes - depth, flat, and punch - to make it easy to set a range of listening preferences. Evened-out high and low tones give a nice, balanced listening experience. The black wood-grain vinyl finish gives this speaker a classy look to go with its strong sound.

This sub delivers what I've been missing!
I was looking for a sub to help my Klipsch RF35 towers with the low bass I'd been largely missing since I gave up my old AR38 air suspension bookshelf speakers a few years back. There's just no substitute for brute force! My Outlaw RR2150 Stereo Receiver has a sub output and selectable crossover points of 60, 80 or 120 HZ and a little experimentation brought me to 80 Hz. Sending everything below 80 Hz to the Klipsch RW12d freed up my towers to more accurately handle the rest of the music or movie audio. The reviews I read are pretty accurate...with movies like Terminator 3, my not too happy I spent so much money on this sub wife couldn't help but smile as the floor and couch vibrated during the thunderous audio effects in that movie. The performance as a sub with movies could be summed up with one word...WOW! With music, again the reviews I saw were accurate. At a setting of +2dB or just slightly above the nominal 0dB reference the Klipsch handled material from classical to rock with ease. I noticed only a litle bit of boominess on certain passages which largely could be minimized with the available adjustments in the very easy to use digital user interface on top of the sub and/or with room placement. Unlike other sub-woofers that remain on in "idle" mode and warm on the metal backplate when off, the Klipsch totally powers down the amps after 20 minutes of no input and subsequently runs cool. You can set this to remain on in an idle mode or turn off the AC mains in the rear with the power switch if you prefer. You'll find yourself falling in love with your favorite music all over again as you hear and feel what you've been missing in the really low bass area. The sub does seem to struggle just a bit to keep with some program material as the reviews say, enough to at least mention, but really not that bad overall...after all this is an $800 sub, not a $5000 audiophile reference standard! Lastly, if you can't find this sub available for $400 or less as a discontinued product new and in the original box, there are better choices for the $500-$800 range...but if you can, buy it, you won't be disappointed.Read full review

I love this subwoofer!
If you want a hard hitting, punch you in the gut, room shaking subwoofer then this is the one for you! I bought this one because I wanted the reference series sub! Klipsch is what I chose for my home theatre ! I did a lot of homework before I purchased! I tested 8 10 and 12 inch subs and in the end 12 is what I knew I wanted! There is nothing I dislike about this subwoofer! It looks beautiful, it hits like a jackhammer and was the perfect fit for my entire klipsch system! Simple plug and play, go through the digital display, set it to your liking and pop in a blue ray movie and watch it come to life. As far as comparing it to others! Klipsch makes a bottom firing sub that is perfect if you want to hide it in the corner and get "good" bass! But with the rw 12d's front firing beauty it really sends the punch right to you regardless of where you are sitting! Make sure your have enough power in your amp because this sub can take anything you throw at it, absolutely no distortion at all! I love this sub . Point -Read full review

An incredibly good subwoofer...great for filling in on older recordings, makes movies come alive, and has a great "night mode" that enables it to be used at low levels without disturbing the rest of the family...and still filling the room with correct bass...but when you punch it, it will shake the foundation. Great subwoofer for the cost will lively up any home theater set up love it
Fantastic response for a 12" sub. Crisp 'punchy' bass, especially with a powered cable that utilizes both channels. Had to actually lower the gain on it because it was a little over powering. Gives great sound on movies and games love klipsch never let down by them, great sub for the price!

Lots of low frecuency response. Clear and powerful. Makes a great difference and produces impressive complement to the surround sound track of blueray movies. Whole speaker system is Klipsch. Receiver is Denon 1200 Watts. My family room is 25'x30' hardwood floors. Rear and front speakers are mounted on the 10' ceiling. Highly recomended
