GUNSMOKE-COMPLETE FIRST SEASON
This set consolidates the original Columbia House mail order (six disc) series into one package. The video quality is the same as the mail order series. The pilot episode which is introduced by none other than "THE DUKE" John Wayne is interesting due to the fact that while its decent, you would never believe that a twenty year series evolved from it. When watching this series remember that the producers, writers and actors all had parents which were born in the 1800's which gives first hand perspective into the 19th century. The story lines are basic and no frills just like the 19th century was so join Matt, Chester, Galen(Doc) and Miss Kitty for a western adventure which was to last twenty years. P.S., don't look for Festus, he was still an outlaw as well as a few years away from joining the cast! FIVE STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Read full review

This is What You Have Been Waiting For Gunsmoke Fan!
If you are a fan of Gunsmoke or even a fan of 50's Television, then this DVD will please you greatly. I am not that great a fan of the later Gunsmoke shows because I thought they stretched a half-hour story into an hour. The only time you would see the early half-hour Gunsmoke episodes was when the Western Channel had their Gunsmoke marathon and even then, the first two seasons were not included.

This is James Arness at his finest. Each first season episode opens on Boot Hill with Matt Dillon explaining about the people buried there. You see "Kitty" in the first few episodes sans heavy makeup. You'll see actors who went on to be stars on television and/or motion pictures.

The films must have been digitally remastered because the picture quality is excellent. The entire first season is contained in this set, not just half as in the recent release of "The Untouchables. I think you'll be glad you bought this and after watching it you can sell it on ebay!Read full review

A little over half a century ago, America.....
A little over half a century ago, America was Christian nation with Christian values. Gunsmoke's Mat Dillon was a Christian man that upheld Christian law. Today, America is a Jew-day-o Christian country with law enforcement officer's instead of peace officer's. Their vehicles still proclain "To Protect and Serve", but I have to question who are "they" protecting and serving.

Gunsmoke - The Complete First Season
The Gunsmoke TV Series has been one of the most enjoyable box sets I have purchased on Ebay. The Complete First Season starts out with John Wayne introducing James Arness on the pilot show. It is a great DVD set.
