Good shooter, done well but nothing much original.
My first venture into Gears of War and really enjoyed it. A typical shooter game with pretty much the usual array of weaponry although I did like the chainsaw on the end of my guns, a nice little touch for cutting your foe in half. Although I only tried the game on hard mode I did find it quite easy, I have a lot of experience in shooter games but was quite suprised with the ease in which I was going through levels, so if you want a challenge then perhaps you should choose one of the 2 higher levels above hard. The movement is quite good and responsive although I did get a little annoyed on a couple of occassions when trying to get in or out of cover but nothing to detract from the overall game experience. In my opinion a good game but nothing too original 7/10.

This game is violent, gorey and bloody. It's just wonderful.
Yes, Gears of War 2 is indeed has more impaction than the first. Epic Games tried their best to create a deeper and more involved storyline with the second game in the series and for the most part they succeeded. In some areas flawlessly so. There's no question that storyline plays a much more important role than it did in the first game. Characters are more emotional, more is revealed about the Locust and where they come from (as well as a look at the Locust Queen), and there are also plenty of new story threads that are opened up. Some of which are wrapped up in the end, most of which are not. But those not looking for a story intensive experience might be a bit turned off by the increased number of cut scenes and dramatic outbursts. There's certainly more to watch than in the first game, but there are frequent breaks in the action that rely on the player investing in the characters in order to hit home.Read full review

good game, equal in entertainment value to GOW3- but some features differ
I bought the game as it came as a bungled deal with Gears of War 3. The price of the combined items was less than if i was to buy Gears of war 3 alone.
I have played Gears of war 2 and the campaign is as good as gears of war three. I found the three main diffrences between Gears of war 2 and 3 are
1- the Hammerburst weapon in GOW2 is alot better and is capable of blowing the heads off Grubs, unlike in three where it just appears to irritate them and slow them down a bit.
2- you can kill wretches(monkey's as my freinds and i nick-named them) with a pistol using the B button in GOW2, but in GOW3, it take more than one smack lol.
3- in GOW2 playing horde there is no respawning, tapping A doesnt revive your character and you die quicker. Also it appears that once a level is completed you cant pick up the enemies dropped weapons.
If you have GOW3, there is an achievement for completeting 1+2 on console, which is why i also bought GOW1.Read full review

gears of war 2 xbox 360
While some may complain about the choice that has been taken away from players in Gears of War 2’s multiplayer experience, the package as a whole stands high above the original Gears in pretty much every way. When it’s working, the matchmaking software gets you into good matches quickly and makes sure opponents don’t ruin your fun by leaving prematurely. Expect the online banquet that is Gears of War 2 to dominate Xbox Live for many months and years to come.
