After I spent some time surveying web comments and comparisons, the nuvi 3790T looked like *the* GPS navigator for us. We're no newbies to GPS's; we've had 6 or 8 of them ... handhelds ('cause we geocached for a few years) and a built-in in my '06 Honda Civic.
This little unit trumps them all. We bought it because the Class C motorhome we have on order has no GPS in it. We wanted to practice with it so I used the nuvi's suction cup and pasted it to the screen of the built-in Navi in my Honda ... and it sticks there like a dream. That alone is a big plus. I've had trouble getting other Garmins to stick to our windshield.
The Voice Command works well. We're getting used to each other. There are still times when I have to say "Costco" ... "Costco" (louder) ... COSTCO! (shouting). But in general, the voice recognition is great. Hands-free, eyes-free operation is a HUGE safety feature.
Our on-board NAVI from Honda, despite a recent $180 software update, is pathetic by comparison. That may partly be excused by rapid advances in technology, but bear in mind my initial 2K outlay. The look-ups on our AT&T telephones may have been better, but so far the nuvi's given me no reason to complain.
Besides, if there are new favorite destinations it's easy to record the lon-lat, tag it with an identifier (like "Liquor Store") and keep it under "Favorites".
The number of languages you can choose from is amazing. It's fun to try to find the Liquor Store in Japanese. ;-)
I guess I'd like a bigger screen and would prefer a built-in version in our new RV, but for the price the nuvi is fantastic.

I decided to replace my old 350 Garmin nuvi with a 3790T. Obviously before I purchased it I did some research about this product and read many reviews on line. As always with new products there were some cons and pros and I really had mixed feelings about it; however today was my first trip using this device. It is excellent, I'm really impressed how accurately it predicted the traffic trends and lead me through different roads to my destination. Later on I found out that the I-278 was totally packed and the cars were moving at 20 mph. I saw one pop up on the screen but it disappeared shortly after I start moving my car. I experienced no problems whatsoever - sharp screen, clear voice command, fast satellite acquisition, fast recalculating- A++++++++++ highly recommended.

Traffic GPS learns REAL conditions over time
This thing is amazing. It learns where the bad traffic spots are by watching the reports, and routes to avoid typical traffic snarl spots by time of day and day of week, not just current reported trouble spots.
It also learns actual times for routes you drive to make it's routing better.
It's good to take a bad route it suggests when you have the time. It will update it's info and not send you that slow way any more.

Garmin nuvi 3790T
I decided to buy the 3790T after my 760 was stolen. Price is a little steap, but once you just get that out of the way and pull the trigger, it's worth it. I believe that lifetime traffic is a good benni, but honestly Garmin....just let us update the maps quarterly for free; you would truely hold the heavyweight belt for being the top dog for that. I much prefer Garmin over Tom Tom, and the 3790T just takes that love even farther. Sexy design, voice activated commands, "all the features", and screen resolution make for a whole new experience from Garmin. I wish the battery life was longer SEEMS THAT EVERYONE SAYS THAT ABOUT NAVI SYSTEMS, I wonder when they will address that finally! All in all, I'm very satisfied, but I wish I could be on the design team for a model, consumers would get what they long for I guarentee lol. I give it 95 out of 100..... and that's head and shoulders above what I give Tom Tom. If anyone shys away from this model because of price, hang your head in shame now.
Still the best Navi I've ever used. I will be switching to my smartphone when this dies because... how can you beat free map updates? YOU CAN'T Go Droid! Garmin... get with the program. Map updates should be free. My Droid's free app. is kicking your @$$ lol. Still the best Navi out there though.Read full review

Garmin nuvi 3790T
This is the best GPS I've come across. It is packed with features. The slimline design is unbelievable. An excellent value for the money. One thing though, if you purchase this unit do not download the map update unless you first talk to a tech at Garmin. I registered my unit right away and decided to download the latest free update before the offer expired. The map update caused a problem with the speech recognition feature and now I can't use that feature to search for a new address until Garmin finishes writing a software patch update. It will say "this feature is not available for the United States" They told me it should be available in a couple of weeks. The touch screen is unaffected.
