GPS Gift Makes Her Happy
Purchased as a Christmas gift for my wife. The larger screen makes it easy to see. On trips out of town to unfamiliar cities it has helped her find many destinations. They are becoming like cell phones where you wonder how you ever survived without them. I chose the Garmin nuvi 1450T GPS for her because I own a Garmin nuvi 700 series and have been completely satified with the brand but figured she would like something with a slightly bigger screen. I really like all the options these GPS units come with like voice prompts, bluetooth, emergency alerts, just to name a few. If you get a Garmin I think you'll be happy and satisfied.

Garmin nuvi 1450T Automotive GPS Receiver
This Garmin unit is wonderfully user friendly and easy to use. The clarity of image is excellent and the information is accurate to within 1% of perfection. The battery Life is ery acceptable (+/- 2.0 hrs between charges)and the "Low Battery" grace period is very comforting (between 5 and 10-min). A new and reassuring feature is the security lock code that makes the unit useless in the event it is stolen. The variety of applications and information are all very positive features. I highly recommend the Garmin GPS products to any and all persons who have even the slightest interest in Guidance systems for personal OR professional use.

Awesome garmin... shows the lane you are supposed to be in..it is great!!!
very easy to use... what I like about this garmin as opposed to the other ones you get at wal-mart is this one shows you which lane or lanes you are supposed to be in so you won't miss the exit you are supposed to take.... I can hook it up to my computer and download the latest maps and road construction... it is great would recommend it to anyone who is going on a road trip or just going across town.. I use mine everyday and all the time...

Garmin 1490 GPS
The Garmin 1450 is the same thing as a Garmin 1490 but without the Bluetooth. The 1490 has Bluetooth and the 1450 does not. The 1450 has a silver face band, where the 1490 is all black in the front.

The 1450 has Lane assist and Junction view. If you are going to use the current map set, 2014.20, you will have to use a 4gig Micro SD Card. The unit has 2gig's internal and the new maps are about 1.9gig just for the maps. With this card and a map update, this unit will do everything the newer Model 50's will do, and more like the 1450/1490 will do routes.

If you like a big 5" screen GPS then this is the one for you. Very easy to use, and you never have to look anything up in the manual it comes with. If you are going to us this walking, the battery does not last as long as the ones with the smaller screen like the 255.Read full review

Garmin Nuvi 1450T GPS Receiver
The receiver works very good. It replaces a Lowrance receiver that has started to overheat when used more than 30 minutes (the Lowrance is old). The Garmin is overall smaller and more compact, but the viewing screen is almost as large as the Lowrance. I am very impressed with the "ease" of use.
