Forza Motorsport (Microsoft Xbox, 2005)
About this product
|An Xbox answer to the PlayStation's popular Gran Turismo series, Forza Motorsport is a serious driving simulation boasting licensed vehicles and realistic action. The game features automobiles from more than 60 brand-name manufacturers including BMW, Chevy, Dodge, Ferrari, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Mazda, Nissan, and Porsche. Vehicles are extensively customizable, allowing players to trick out their favorite ride with new paint and rims, or upgrade with new engines, brakes, suspensions, and additional systems. Astute drivers can also fine-tune gear ratios, timing, tire pressure, and other elements for top performance in particular driving conditions.|
Like the cars and equipment, the game's courses are also based on real-world equivalents, so players can race through re-creations of famous runs such as the Nurburgring or the streets of Rio de Janeiro. Opponent behavior is influenced by the game's "Drivatar" technology, which is designed to learn and mimic the tactics and tendencies of human players. Gamers can train their own Drivatars, who can race for them or help train new members of their team. In spite of the customizable artificial intelligence, sometimes nothing beats racing against other gamers, so a number of multiplayer modes are supported through the Xbox Live service.

Really fun to play - lots of great cars
The car selection is awesome Carrera GT, F40, 333SP, 246 GT, S7 + GT, GTS, And P1 race cars from JGTC, ALMS, and Speed World Challenge... - not as many cars as Gran Turismo, but all of the cars in the game are very cool. Most of the cars in Gran Turismo, you don't use anyway once you've gone a bit into the game... The Damage simulation definitely adds a different quality to the game over GT4 - you are much less likely to make a crazy (and unrealistic) move that could damage your car and force you to pit...
Opportunities for improvement: Multiplayer (non xbox live) only includes 2 cars, it would be nice to be able to choose the addition of other AI cars in addition to you and your pal. Also, there are endurance races, but none that are very long - 1.5 - 2 hours... Would like to see something longer. And one last thing: In single player mode, you cannot just choose any car on any track and get comparable competition - Arcade mode forces the user to use only cars within a certain segment for that course. Would like more flexibility there.
Overall though, I love this game and rarely play GT4 anymore. Just the fun of the GTS 550 Maranello on Laguna Seca alone makes this one worth getting! Hope this was helpful.Read full review

The best driving game out there
Forza one ups Gran Turismoin this racing genre game. Gone are the days of wrecking your car and not getting damage which is what I don't like about Gran Turismo. In Forza you hit another car the guard rail or just about anything your car takes the damage. Not only does your car take damage but it also affects how the car drives. Then Add the hundreds of different events to race in. This game has superb graphics, and great gameplay and handling. This is far better then Gran Turismo don't waste your money on that game this is far better and worth the money spent.

Fantastic Racing Simulator
Forza Motorsport is the racing game that fills out the XBOX's racing category. The XBOX has been with out a racing sim for quite a long time and now it finally gets one. Forza is not exactly a game for the masses, it uses real world physics which can be quite challenging since you have to judge when to brake as in real life unless you want to kiss the wall. Also it's very easy to build a very powerful machine with a lot of money, however if not tuned properly or if the car is just simply overpowered, it can be quite a handfull just to keep the car on the road, even in a straight line. The game does have assists which help out greatly, but the only way to have true control is to turn some of them off. Traction control (TCS) makes drifting practically impossible. Anti Lock Brakes (ABS) is mandetory however since it's difficult to modulate the brakes with a controller.
A big chunk of this game is the career mode where you start off with 20,000 so it's enough buy a compact car. I believe the first car I bought was an SRT-4 which has a good amount of power and handles quite well, it's a great car to start with. It takes a little while to earn a lot of money in the first few races so you have to be little patient if you want to upgrade your ride. You can turn the driving assists off you do have the opportunity to make a lot more money, but with the assists off the chances of making a costly mistake are much higher. If you don't want to drive in all of the races, Forza introduces the DRIVATAR which is an A.I. which you can train to do races for you. You can't earn as much money when you use the DRIVATAR but it sometimes helps out with those really tidious races.
The big thing about games like this is the ability to upgrade a vehicle and tune it. Forza adds some new elements to this category, like the ability to really customize the appearance of your ride. While this isn't really new, no game like Gran Turismo has allowed your to really alter the appearance of your car. Also you have the ability to chose which type of power adder you'd like, either super charging or turbo charging. While turbo charging is more efficient it's not instantanious like super charging. These extra options allow you to build a car more to your specifications. Everything else is the same like in any other racing sim, i.e. suspension and brake upgrades. Basically everything you need to turn an ordinary car into a supercar.
In conclusion Forza Motorsport is a fantastic racing simulator with a bevy of features to keep you playing hours on end. However because of it's realistic driving nature, it might not be everyone's cup of tea.Read full review

Forza Motorsport for Xbox
Pros - Forza Motorport has a HUGE selection of cars to choose from. It has almost every make and model I have ever heard of. Great graphics to go with it and great drivetrain.
Cons - Forza Motosport is only good when the 900,000,000 credits cheat is enabled. Otherwise it gets boring because your car isn't fast enough to take out the computers.
Overall - Forza Motorsport is a great game and I would give a 95%. I'm not 100% sure about this but I think you can only get this game when you purchase a new Xbox.
Rent or Buy: Again, I'm not sure if you can get this game without purchasing a new Xbox but if I'm wrong BUY.
