Wonderful movie. I've bought it more than once. Deffinately recommend it.
My mother has Alzheimer's and while I took care of her, she just loved this movie which I had on VHS. She has been in a nursing home for over 2 years so I got the DVD version for the common room so her and other patients could watch it. She thought it was the most romantic movie ever.

Watch it now!
I am by no means a chick-flick romance type of girl, but I absolutely love this movie. Drew Barrymore is perfect in her role and you can't help but care for her character and root for her during the entire film. This is definitely my favorite interpretation of Cinderella by far and one of my favorite love stories. I can't recommend this movie enough.

But I love it. Anjelica Houston is just wickedly mean, and Barrymore is the perfect princess. My favorite scene is where Danielle and Henry (Barrymore and Dougray Scott) get attacked by the gypsies and Danielle gets them out of it. Its great to have it on DVD and watch whenever I'm in that chick-flick mood.

It's a classic Cinderella story with a strong feminist twist featuring Drew Barrymore and Anjelica Houston. In this film, if the prince rides in on a white stallion, it's a little too late, but welcomed anyhow.
This is classic Anjelica Houston as the evil stepmother with two evil stepdaughters--one of whom redeems herself near the end. Good against evil, right against wrong, and poetic justice at the end--it's a pleasure all the way around.
If I had seen this in my youth instead of the Cinderella Disney classic, I might have played out my life differently. OK, well, probably not, but show this to your "tweens" and enjoy it yourself, no matter what your age. It is a more realistic fairy tale than most we grew up with and highly entertaining.
